Could this also explain my wife aqua planed last week, moderate flood on patch of road, heavy side wind and she was almost off the road.( a well maintained 3 lane rd)
Is chunky tread best ??? and does size really matter.??

loadsa guys offered me caffeine or a drink to help calm me down after the event, so it did end rather nicely lol
so far, the 'sensible clothes' i have now opted for are giving me an all round more safer feeling drive, Mr Hilux is cornering like never before, the fuel consumption is unbelievably good and i would say that any woman driving one of these glorious 4x4's ... have a safe journey, get thin tyres on ... size really DOES matter!
howevers, me set o chunkkies are sitting there awaiting the wild river crossings and mountain side climbs for next spring

p.s.
my chunkky tyres didnt help in snow as they were 95% for offroad driving, i have since found out that there are ones known as 50/50 driving conditions, i found my chunkkies just collected all the snow, compacted it into the chunks and ski'd...
but even with his sensible clothes on... he still looks great!
so much so even little kitty (p.s. Luvitsa is Bulgarian for Lioness) wanted to give the new tyres a whirl!

There was a tyre review in one of the serious offroad mags years ago which pitted knobblies against ATs in deep snow.
AT's came off best due to the 'snowballing' phenomena. Wide spaces and the very deep tread in mud tyres tended to ball the snow up and push it along in front of the tire effectively digging you in.
Dont ask me why, but the expert advice was ATs (narrow rather than wide) are best for snow. Not that it matters much in the UK...Cutting steps in the roof of the world

You got snow in Bulgaria?
howevers i also believed such a jeep would just plough throo the snow, but its been pointed out here others have same problem of the tyres digging in and accumulating the snow!
