I had an email from a friend north of Boston today (Lexington). He was saying he'd seen our news and was wondering if I was enjoying the snow.

He went on to say that he'd run out of space to put the snow that was building up on his driveway because the piles were too big. He still gets to work every day in a Subaru Forester.

there is your answer as to why! i remember the last time we had snow like this. my next door neighbor took us to school in a MK2 ESCORT

ignition timing must have been out or the choke was still out because his foot was flat to the floor and we were making it up this hill but the speedo wasnt even registering!

I don't think you'll find this is a British issue, I think, if you look closer, you'll find it's an English issue. And if you look closer still, it's probably a South Eastern issue.

We don't get much snow around here, but when we do, life, public transport, schools etc. go on. Up north where they get real snow, everything just carries on. Same as it does in Canada, America, Iceland Poland, Russia...

Just because you're skint and it's dark all the time....

Anyway, it is a British issue because we live in Britain and all share a government, whether you like it or not.

Too many .s in your ellipsis there...

Seeing as we're all British and all that, don't you think it's funny how snow up here never makes the National news, but a wee flurry down your way does?

And I'm not skint, what gave you that impression? As for always dark, in the summer it doesn't get properly dark at all, swings and roundabouts I think.

I spent a month working on Benpeculiar one summer (working with the radar chaps at South Clettreval (sp?) - which we knew as south clitoris, but thats beside the point) and spent many very long nights in the Dark Island Hotel bar simply cos it didn't really get properly dark til very very late, which bu99ered my internal clock.
