Hi Richard, sorry to hear your problems mate, but at least there is some light at the end of tunnel. It would be a good idea to get in touch with the Disability Benifits Helpline, its an independant outfit which can tell you exactly what you are entitled to, so when you go to sign on you have all the facts in front of you. Depending on the severity of the problem you may be entitled to Disability Living Allowance, if granted it opens the door to training and also to employers having to take your disabilty into account, it also means you can get the council tax band you are in reduced, ie you will drop a council tax band, they will not tell you about this but thats the law, look on your councils website for council tax band reduction for disabled people. If you need any help with the ins and outs of the system let me know, because of my daughter with have battled and fought them for years.

Spoken to the solicitor today and he is preparing to go to court now if a decent offer isn't put forward.
He is now also preparing to push for future loss of earnings from the company and also to claim towards my pension which will now have to be frozen till i retire.This is all going to take months now to finalise so god knows what's gonna happen in the mean time

you go to citizens advice, find out what you can claim in benifits and claim them....good luck mate

once i am off work i will be going to find out everything i am going to be able to claim for.
I am hoping to be able to go to college to retrain and get some qualifications in something else but i don't know yet what to train up on.
I have a brochure come through today from the local college with all the courses available so i'll take a gander through that and see whats available

This is what makes me soo angry - spongers that claim disability when they really shouldn't an genuine people like yourself that are willing to go out an retrain.

Thanks Bibs.I am with you on this aswell as i can't stand that alot of people do nothing to get work and would sooner sit on their backsides and do nothing.
I got no chooice but to retrain as the railway and farming is the only 2 things i know and i now can't do any manual work so i need to do something to pay the bills and feed the family.
There is always something out there and if you haven't the skills then train up and get qualified

Its all fairly easy an seems possible to earn decent money!

I have also been told by my solictor to make sure i am actively seeking work aswell so if/when it goes to court then the court will see that i am wanting to work and not sitting on my arse waiting for the compo to pay out.
Rodders i am thinking about the computer side of things as a main job if poss.
One thing i have had to do and thats change my attitude towards different job roles.Ever since i left school i have always worked outside and always been a outsuide person.I have never been one for being stuck inside working.Since the accident i have had no choice but to work in an office and i have found it hard going for the first 6 months to a year but i stuck with it and i am now used to it.
