  • My £1.04 intercooler arrived

Well it arrived , my £1.04 gamble has paid off, won the item on eBay but its description was sketchy to say the least and said collection only, no postage, but I thought it would be worth a try and asked if it could be posted and the answer was yes !!, so bid and won for £1.04 + P&P (£10).

Looks bigger then I thought it would , judging from the photos I’ve seen on the modification forum, the internal diameter of the pipes is 45mm so a bit of pipe work will be required for connections to the surf, I think I’m going with the centre mounting point once I’ve done the 2” body lift but I want to leave access to the oil filler if possible, would i get it in for now without the lift, can't do the body lift untill August .

Also how do you best connect the fan, I’m thinking of a thermostat off the turbo pipe or maybe off the intercooler itself, any ideas.

Excellent mate well done, you'll need some silicon hose reducers/increase'ers to get ya up to the turbo/inlet sizes,(they'll cost ya a bit more than £1.04 tho) as for the fan i run mine through a thermostat switch rated at 40 degree's cut in, 25 reset, you'll need to wire up a five pin relay and a standard relay, if you need the wireing diags let me know, (it aint a real drawing just my interpertation of one) looks a sight easier to fit than mine, god know's what it was off, but it was free!! however the hose and stuff cost me over £130

There must be a sensor somewhere that detects zero mph. Thats the only time you need the fan really.

I have the same fan on my ATF cooler

Its deffo not off a Hilux, mine is EAXCTLY the same off an L200.

They look like twin electric fan units.

It would be like that road tax advert where the car crushes itself.

They blow out/up, you can see the heat haze comeing out of em when it's at normal temp, their bus roof vents on the top of the bonnet
