          Just on a pedantic note, it isn't, actually. That is a totally different theorem. Also, if the speed that you are walking away from the object is 10MPH, then theoretically you both have a speed of 5MPH, not 10MPH. (Working on the scenario posted, that is).

            OK, yes, it is a consequence of Special Relativity. And yes, that is the case unless you define a single point somewhere as being 'static'. But you're also right, this is pure pedantry, and not relevant to the issue.
