are you lot still going on about this bleedin imaginary plane.
so imaginary in fact that the only plausable outcome is that the conveyor wont move at all. and that the plane takes off as normal.
in real life situations, you cannot produce the circumstances needed to keep the plane stationaryOh Nana, what's my name?

The conveyor isn't even relevant until the plane begins to move in anyone's argument, as it's completely stationary relative to anything until the plane moves.
All you have to detemine is whether there's any possible way of a significant transfer of force from the conveyor belt to the body of the plane through it's freewheeling wheels?=========

im led to believe that the large hadron collider is now operating and smashing particles together with such enthusiasm, that small rifts in space time are theoretically possible, what with electron spin breaking the nothing is faster than light speed caveat, its entirely possible that an aeroplane could take off backwards on a forward running, upside down contra rotating conveyor belt, but land before its taken off
and all entirely true if you treat this as a quantum problemLast edited by gwh200; 11 February 2008, 23:05.Non intercooled nothing.

if nothing is supposed to be able to breach the speed of light, how come paired electrons, which have a property called spin, can influence each other.if you had a pair of "paired" electrons and made electron 1 spin anticlockwise, then electron 2 would spin clockwise, and this effect on each other is not goverend by the weak or strong nuclear force.an experiment down an old dakota lead mine, fired a pair of electrons in opposite directions, causing an effect on one had an instant effect on the partner particle, even though the distance between them was many miles.now imagine that the particles are 3x10^8 metres apart (the distance light travels in one second)the effect would be instantaneous.now move the particles a light YEAR apart and you still get the same effect, faster than light speed.now imagine that the plane and runway are both electrons
what happens next ????Non intercooled nothing.

Would this not make time travel possible?Brian

the macroscopic world ,ie the one we can see,is goverend by newtonian physics, the microscopic worls is just plain weird !!
particles can wink in and out of existence millions of times a second, electrons can not only appear to be but actually can be in two places at the same time.
it can be represented by changing the way you think about time.space and time (spacetime is its name) are inextricably linked, but the time part is not the artificial system man invented(think before clocks were invented,no one knew the time).space bends time in a way 3 dimensions cant adequately explain, and give rise to anomalies in the way we use physical laws to interpret things.
i now have a head ache and am going for a bath, back shortlyNon intercooled nothing.

and uf the plane and belt were electrons,i reckon ones action would have an inverse effect on the other,so if you made the belt go fast enough, the plane would eventually take off before the belt started ,or at the very least instantaneouslyNon intercooled nothing.
