As normal when MS introduces a new operating system it is often flawed and 'buggy'. Backwards compatibility with some software and hardware is always an issue. I normally wait until the updated service pack of the new system is released before installing it.

I'm running Windows XP Pro SP2 on a brand new dual core build and it's operating fine.

Only problem I can see is if you have to return the computer if it's faulty they're bound to try and charge you, even if it's still under warranty, if you've changed the operating system.

Anyone got any idea when SP1 is coming out for vista?

Ive heard you need at least a gig to run vista properly.

That might be total Schite, but its a possibility!
na it will work on 512mb ram, and you might get away with less than that, but dont expect to run any applications from it.
vista manages ram better than xp. so ticking over with nothing running, it will keep a lot (700mb out of 1000mb) loaded in ram. but when you open apps, what its not using is written to the HD to free up ram.

with vista, i understand that you have the oportunity to downgrade to xp professional if you like to. you just need to have the cd, and call them up, tell them your license code and they give you a new one - for free

Well said that man. Although, I must add, Apple have some funny ideas too of how to do things. Some of their alterations and 'enhancements' to good old fashioned *nix progs are quirky, on occasion.
