As normal when MS introduces a new operating system it is often flawed and 'buggy'. Backwards compatibility with some software and hardware is always an issue. I normally wait until the updated service pack of the new system is released before installing it.
I'm running Windows XP Pro SP2 on a brand new dual core build and it's operating fine.
Only problem I can see is if you have to return the computer if it's faulty they're bound to try and charge you, even if it's still under warranty, if you've changed the operating system.

Ive heard you need at least a gig to run vista properly.
That might be total Schite, but its a possibility!
vista manages ram better than xp. so ticking over with nothing running, it will keep a lot (700mb out of 1000mb) loaded in ram. but when you open apps, what its not using is written to the HD to free up ram.Oh Nana, what's my name?
