The M6 toll road is good, its quick, cos many people don't use it, thats the point..... "YOU HAVE THE OPTION NOT TO USE IT"

I don't often travel at peak times, I can't remember the last time I got caught in much traffic, so WHY SHOULD I BE FORCED TO PAY PER MILE TO CUT CONGESTION!!!!

Are you going to get a discount if the congestion is caused by an accident, or road works, thats not your fault....Or if there is no traffic and its moving freely

    I DON'T THINK SO!!

The whole is so out rageous they should all be shot!! To tax you to travel around our country is wrong, just wrong. The road tax ATM is bad enough, but at least once you've paid it you can forget about it.

Also, the letter was signed 'yours sincerely Tony Blair' which shows their basic stupidity! If you don't know the person you're writing to, you don't sign 'yours sincerely', bunch of feckin' cretins.

Don't know why i'm doing an impression of Matt, just pi$$ed me off that the government can't even get the signing off on a letter correct.
i swear, it was like that when i got here...

It's not as if anyone wants to travel on major roads in peak times, they do it because they have to in the course of earning a living, so how is charging them going to cut down on congestion, they will still use the road but end up poorer for it.
              It makes my blood boil.
Laugh!!! I nearly bought my own beer.

Mr Blair and all his political play mates should lead by example and walk to work. Less traffic in central London, better for the environment, and the exercise would do em all good

The most sensible solution to help ease congestion would be to restrict the amount of cars per household to a maximum of 2.I know several families near me who have 4 cars per household some have to use on street parking, which in my opinion is totally selfish and $$$$ing ignorant.

WHY???? if the cars are taxed, mot'd and all paid for, why should people be limited to number of vehicles they own if they're paying for them???

bottom line is that as motorists we already pay more than enough to sort road problems out in this country.

in fact, we pay enough it should be able to fix the road problems in whole of europe!

ease congestion on the roads the same way we can ease the scrounging on our social services...send the illegals (and the newly EU legals for that matter) back where they come from.

I have a large van for work, other half has a cleo, mum has a deawoo ( don't) and I also have the surf.
Thats four cars, all are taxed etc, and all are parked off the road.two of the four only go out about once a week but we still pay the TAX.

PS: the best way to ease congestion is for all the decent working people should naff off to France ( or foriegn country of your choice) and leave this stinking s h i t e hole to scrounging scum and let the MP's sort it out without any tax money. See how they like them onions!!!!

You're falling into the trap of banning stuff that dosn't effect you, most people don't own a 4x4, so banning then is fine.

We own a Horse Lorry, Linda's truck, My Truck, our offroad truck, and currently a few others that are being built to sell on. All are used, and we can justify the need for them (although we shouldn't have to)

As a gass guzzling, kid killing, planet destroying 4x4 owner, you'll know how if feels to be ignorantly generalised and dismissed. You should know better than that statement!
