going back to MOT'S, i replaced my rear shoes and a leaky rear cylinder a couple of months ago, put the surf in for mot last friday and it failed on the side with the new cylinder with a very low reading so i got that drum refaced the missus took it back today and its the same! anyone got any ideas

Did you give it a run first, brakes often need to get bedding in before max performance is seen.
I'd drive around for a while pulling on the handbrake, if you've left the old shoes in on the new drum, all the grooves on the shoes that the old drums made will onyl leave you 50% or so of the shoes touching the smooth drum face.
Find a quiet road were you can coast along in N, and pull on the hand brake till you get both wheels locking.4x4toys.co.uk - Keeping you on and off the road...

only did 5 or 6 miles after refitting drums so yea you could be right, but reading was about 300 on drivers side and passenger side was reading about 80. I was wondering if they cylinder supplied may be the wrong one,it looked the same and it obviously fitted. I assume that are they the same as the earlier surfs and it is the right one as it came from roughtracks
