Nope. My truck is good as gold and my mechanic is the rare type. Honest!

I used to feel like this, but our village MOT man is a relaxed sort of guy, sensible but fair.

usual bloke i use will pass a minor failure and show you what's wrong with it so you can fix it...

i had a fail on a buckled alloy wheel once... (mothers car)... think they thought they'd make a few quid... i got a new alloy off my mates accident repair garage and took it to local tyre fitter who said there's nothing wrong with the old one!!... W@nkers!

I'm lucky, my son being a "mechaniac" and working at an MOT station he takes mine in and gives it the onceover before the test and then if it fails on anything he fixes it before it even comes off the ramps.
Laugh!!! I nearly bought my own beer.

Same as the guy I take my vehicles to, he goes through the test and if there's a failure, he points out what I need to do to get it to pass, I go away and get it sorted, go back and show him it's been done, then I pay for the test and he issues the certificate with the date that I previously brought the vehicle to him, on it.

i had a peugeot 106 rallye back in my boy racer stage, as i had removed the cat i new it would fail an MOT so for 3 years i bought "suspect" mot's for around £60 from "the bloke down the pub", then finally decided to get it done proper and the bu**ers passed it, the cost £25 - aaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

I suppose so. He doesn't enter any details on the computer until he issues the certificate.

they must be able to change the date, else you wouldn't be able to get 13 months MOT certs

thought they had to hook computer up to car being tested so avoid dodgy goings on

Nope, didn't see any cables hooked up to the truck, only the probe shoved up the tailpipe for the emmisions test.

think that's only for the emissions tests etc...
think the rest is just typed in, engine number etc.

think they can scan the VIN like a barcode off some cars (the ones with it on a plate in the windscreen.
