Firstly, appologies for posting this question in the general section but as I don't know where the 'Clunk' comes from, I wouldn't know which technical forum to put it in.
Anyway, as you can probably guess, I'm suffering with a strange 'Clunk' from the Surf. This 'Clunk' occurs only on making a R/H turn, although not every time. It's more noticable on 90 degree turns or mini roundabouts but will also happen on gradual right handers. Immediate thoughts were a bush on any of the usual suspects but all appears well at least at first glance. Pulling/twisting doesn't indicate anything amiss either. Bouncing the suspention whilst static doesn't induse the 'Clunk' nor does potholes or speedbumps irrispective of the speed.
Slightly more worrying was that, prior to purchase, the former keeper had mentioned a sticking clutch plate in the LSD which had made a noise on R/H turns. He'd topped up the oil in the diff & the problem had, apparently, gone. I've now driven a couple of thousand miles since I got it & the 'Clunk' is now more frequent & noticeable. I must admit, I've never heard of this kind of problem with a LSD but I'm no expert. On occasions, the noise is quite loud &, to me, too loud to be comming from the diff.
Any advice would be much appreciated.
