Just to help people out, and make it easier to contact your MP, there is a web based service that you can use to send an email or fax to them.

    http://www.writetothem.com/

I've used it in the past to contact my MP (Michael Jack - CON) and it works, and I received a written reply.

Just spotted that you can now also write to a Lord from the same site.

      http://www.writetothem.com/lords

It appears that Lord Palmer might be a good target as he is "the unpaid president of the British Association for Bio Fuels and Oils".

Well done Paul, now nobody has an excuse for for not bothering to send off the letter.

Perhaps I should have done a poll to start with to guage reaction. So far out of almost 600 views. there can't be more than 30 or so members that have offered to do something. I'm not into head bashing, but, surly, in a group with a vested interest in this matter, we can get a better response!

Just sent my letter off to our local MP using the e-mail link supplied. Will probably hit the MEP and maybe the Lords later.

One suggestion Mike; You've used the "&" all through you letter instead of "and". Sorry to say this is very poor use of written English and should be avoided except where joining two related items (e.g. HMR&C). Tweak the letter to use correct punctuation etc. and you should get a better response.

Also, Can anyone tell me why a TAX should increase on a parking permit for a PARKED 4x4 when its NOT POLLUTING due 2 being PARKED ?

Will it leave a dent in the tarmac ? ? ?

Or is it just because .............THEY CAN ?

It's just because they can!, it's the anti 4x4 brigade that use the failed logic that a 4x4 takes more space to park, they forgot to look up the law that says on street parking bay have to be a certain size, legally. so A hilux surf takes the same space as a SWB landrover or a mini!

Count me in. Just looked at the http://www.writetothem.com/ website and was about to paste in the letter when I read the help section bit and it says that MP's will ignore copied letters .....

"Why shouldn't I copy and paste "form" letters?
We know your issue is important to you, but we've spoken to representatives — and if you are not a constituent, or you send a "copied and pasted" form letter, your message will go straight into the bin.

If you're a pressure group, please think about what you're doing. If you encourage all your members to write to the same representative, you will not show that representative the depth of support for your issue. We now block large form letter campaigns sent to individuals, but even if we did let through your mail, we know from experience that you'll simply have used up a few sheets of tax-funded paper, and irritated an underpaid secretary or researcher. And if you encourage your supporters to all send the same rote letter to different representatives, the recipients will just assume you have a nasty little man with a computer and a list of addresses blasting them out from your office. Then they'll ignore you, wheras if you'd asked people to write to their own representatives in their own words, you'd be ahead of the game."

Now I know we are not all going to write to the same MP but will they just bin them or am I just worrying too much?

I actually wrote to the HMRC and all I got was a standard response letter that went into the bin. I asked why shouydl SVO be taxed at 47p/l when it meets the ether content etc....got different answers from two different people when making queries about forms and clarification of SVO vs WVO/Bio-Diesel.

Once again I believe corporations have scuppered the lower tax here, BIO-Diesel manufacturers stipulating the only valid reason for lower tax is the transverification [maybe spelt wrong] process

Petro-chemical producers don't grow crops. Not that I'm suggesting that's
                          any relation to the reason.
