      he says if your getting black smoke then its working! but how good it is working will also depend on how well its connected so he advises soldering, i have played about with it and put on a switch on the signal wire but have not had time to test it yet so we will see!!!

        Unless your connections are *really* bad, then soldering wont improve anything other than the longevity. Wire wrap is good enough for some military applications, so even clean twisted together connections will do for a while. This sort of connection, where big currents are not involved, well, just about anything will do, and I'm sure all forum members are all reasonably capable! Agreed, soldering will give you a decent mechanical connection as well as electrical, but whether the device works or not will not depend on what kind of connection you use.
