I know this is DEFINATELY not the answer, and I know it's wrong, but if anybody pastes anything to my windscreen or sticks a fake clamp on my car etc and i catch them doing it i WILL be breaking my knuckles on them. If they want to act illegally to get their point accross, then SO WILL I.
i swear, it was like that when i got here...

        What they all said.

Treehugging Greenpeace spin spouting Lentil munchers cause more co2 than a 50-50 vegoil surf...

Cows cause more co2 than <insert choice of vehicle>

Aircraft, poorly service buses, etc. etc.

As has been mentioned... as a minority we have to get a little militant... perhaps even start lobbying as these other groups do...

Mind you if the global warming starts sooner (wasn't supposed to be our great great great grandchildren?), perhaps they'll all need the outlawed 4x4's to get around...?

Exercise for children... As our trusted friend (Ronald McDonald) now states, do at least an hour of excercise a day... there you go now... 1/2 an hr to school, 1/2 an hr back again... job done. Less 'clean' 4x4's in urban areas... Less traffic in general, cleaner air for all.

If its such a big deal why isn't there an incentive to go 'bio/renewable'... have you seen the price of solar panels these days...? Farmers are being encourages to grow hedgerows for wildlife rather than biomass? where is the sense in that. Central news the other day encouraging farmers to cut their hedgerows back a month later because the little birdies weren't out of their nests yet... And they can't use their fallow land for biomass... because it would destroy the delicate balance of the wildlife ecosystem.

LPG and Vegoil will shortly be the same tax bracket as dino... so whats the point?

Apologies.. for the rant... but the big picture is that we are all being outpriced from this country... perhaps I should heed the pyrenees calling.

The industrial reverlution of 1800's up the to the 1950's is when the damage was done to the ozone that started the global warming. All the factorys used steam engines that run on coal and all the heating was from burning coal in the millions of homes, so it's thier fault!. If it was as bad as it was back then, we would sill get the famous London Fog! But when was the last time that happend?

Since the 70's a cleaner way of life has been introduced and it is getting cleaner as new technoligies and cleaner fuels are made. yes we are still polluting the atmospher, but no where near as much as we used to!

It is all down to thease lean burn and catalitic converted engines that putting out less and less CO2 and the fuel is now a lower octaine level than it used to be.

The way technoligy is going, it won't be long before they build an engine that runs on the carbon that is in the air and cleans as the air as it goes. I recon they can already do that, but then they would have no argument for all the Tax Hype!

Then maybe we can Tax the Government for cleaning up the atmospher as we drive to work!

I was listening to a road safety expert on the radio the other day who said pedestrians are less likely to die if hit by a 4x4, travelling at 30MPH, than if they are hit by a saloon car. His reasoning was that most pedestrians hit by cars suffer terrible head injuries as they fold over the front of the car, dent the bonnet and crack their skulls on the top of the engine. When hit by a larger vehicle, at 30 MPH, they are either thrown forward or go underneath the truck, where they are less likely to be injured so badly because of the increased ground clearance. So at least somebody is trying to use a reasoned argument.

What if you had a big shiney stainless steel bashplate fitted and you knocked down a fattie. They would go under the truck and the bashplate would skim over them raising the trucks front wheels off the road disabling the steering and front brakes!

With a diff lock fitted you would still get over them. Don't worry about it.

Nah, I'd rather skim over the top. Besides, the underneath of the truck would get a good greasing.

At what temperature is the central heating thermostat set?
Are any of your radiators turned off?
How often, and for how long, do you run the central heating?
How many loads of washing do you do in a week?
Do you cook in a microwave or an oven?
How long do you spend in the shower each day?
Do you have solar power / solar water heating / ground-heat heating / wind turbines?
Do you EVER use air conditioning?

The average house and the average car "consume" similar amounts of energy and all of the above point to areas where energy can be saved. If they're not doing their bit, they should stop preaching!

(Incidentally, 6 blankets on a bed mean you don't need central heating on at all overnight, but I'm just tight-fisted )

                                NFC good points well made.
While I'm here do none of you guys take your kids to school? All this whinging about 'mums at the school gate' in 4x4's. You try walking two kids to two different schools, get them there before 8.45 then get yourself to work (10 miles away South London) before 9.30. Have a go then let me know how you get on.
