I have been in touch with my local dealer they referred me to Toyota GB, and there I spoke to customer services, who then referred me to a Peter Jackson who deals with imports, he then referred me to Customer Relations, who said I needed to speak to Peter Jackson (ROUND AND ROUND WE GO!!) I told them that he had reffered me to them so they spoke to him and came back to me and told me to contact TOYOTA MARKETING EUROPE on 003227452741 so I did and got a pre recorded message!!
So now it stands that I have sent an email to them saying :-
I have been in touch with Toyota GB and they have suggested i get in touch with TOYOTA EUROPE.
I own a 1995 Toyota Surf chassis no KZN 130 ****engine code 1KZN-TE and model code KD-KZN 30W-GKPOT. I have been in formed that there is a safety recall for these vehicles relating to the Steering Gear Relay Rod.
If this vehicle is subject to this recall can you please let me know how we go about arranging to have this recall carried out.
I am sure TOYOTA would not like the publicity of any of their vehicles failing due to this problem as it would reflect upon their whole vehicle range. I am sure that this is just an oversight due to these vehicles being imported direct from Japan, BUT THEY ARE STILL TOYOTA.
Thank you for your time and I look forward to your reply
Regards
Paul
So now I wait with baited breath to see where they will referre me to next ..........maybe Japan.......Maybe that the answer we all have to re export our motors back to Japan have the recall work carried out then re-import them back to the UK!!!
One of these units will fail and then the $$$$ WILL HIT THE FAN and TOYOTA will respond....TOO LATE!
Watch this space

right i have rung toyota on the number Koi put up and have been given 2 tel.no's and email for Toyota Europe so i will be sending them a email to find out if our 2nd gen 1994 models are included in the recall and let you know what they say
just been on the phone to Toyota europe and they dont seem to know anything about a recall notice on the Toyota's but now it has been mentioned they are going to be looking into it and email me as soon as they know and i will pass it on to you guys
I have just phoned toyota Plymouth (marsh) and whilst they were helpfull indicated that toyota uk would have to advise them - but they (marsh) are doing the legwork for me
my breath is holding
the phone just rung B hell! this is in real time!!
aparently all affected cars will be recalled, but T uk are not releasing to dealerships lists - to stop panic and avoid quew jumping. they also say that recalls are released in batches and we should hear eventually
the recall guy @ plymouth has done a customer profile for me and is forwarding it to uk and japan to try to find out if mine is a recall model
I know it is probably one of the links in this thread but if anyone has an actual copy of a notice/webbpage It would be usefull to be able to wave it under someones nose!!
have to say -unlike some reports of dealerships Marsh Plymouth have been very helpfull and efficient, in the past with spares and hopefully now with this issue
will keep you posted!!
Toyota Europe have just rung me back and have said that they are now getting in touch with Toyota Japan to find out if our imports are affected in any way
i will keep you posted on what they say
got my truck booked in for 20th to get the replacement steering bar fitted, under this warranty recall.
doesnt seem they replace the track-rod ends, I asked. and pointed out that rubber covers on the tie rod ends could be damaged when they remove them to fit new relay rod.
They also check tracking and adjust at same time, but wouldnt do the camber/castor for me free!, but getting them to do that whilst the truck is in the dealership.
They also do a free check of whole vehicle. which will be usefull, to have someone check it over as I do all servicing myself.
lets hope with all these enquiries coming from different owners all over the country/world? we might get some action for us Surf owners
In Toyota's defence, we've already been through this with them, and they sorted us out no problem. Toyota official stance is they support imports as much as they can, but individual dealers (mostly the parts guys) are often to arrogant or lazy to try.
Wish we could find the letter we got about our Surfs last year regards this issue, then we could give you a contact name and number of who dealt with our stuff.

thanks Tony, however just to update Marsh Toyota plymouth have just been on again, after taking advice they have refered me to UK customer services 01737 367600, spoke to a lady there who was charming, she has taken all my details, chassis no's etc and has raised a case, that has been emailed off to substanciate claim/no claim and they should be back to me in 3-5 working days to confirm if my truck is elegable for the recall and if so where and when to take it to be done, I was also told by Marsh that if you motor has to go in because of a recall there is often a 'sweetener' for your hastle.
Have to say Toyota so far have been great -hope they dont end up telling me something I don't want to hear!!!!!!!!!!!!!
However if anyone does have a copy of the recall notice to substanciate our claim.....................

Many thanks, the fact that Toyota have refered to your motor as a Surf must be good news -at least now if they start getting 'iffy' I have something to wave
me runners been in to have the work done.
All replaced and had a nice little Yaris as a loan car while they did the work.
Went and picked up Runner and they not only done the work, they had washed polished, valeted the Runner, put £10 of diesel in and gave me a bottle of champagne as well.
Now thats service for you.
Say not always what you know, but always know what you say.
