Surfs in Australia are not covered by the recall. You may find you have the same problem over there. If you want it replaced then you may have to buy and fit yourself.

Simply go to this link - http://dogandlemon.com/site/japanese...s/?make=TOYOTA - that TonyN supplied in a previous thread which lists all Japanese vehicle recalls.

            Its all in this thread
            http://www.hiluxsurf.co.uk/forums/sh...ghlight=recall
I was told if the matter is not a safety issue then only a local recall is covered but if its a safety issue then it should be honoured where ever the vehicle.
As you can see in the above thread my old Surf was one of those on the effected list and as such was given the opportunity to have the work done free of a charge at a local dealers of my choice.
I still have the letter advising of this, so now a president has been set it will be hard for them to down down other applications on this matter.

Got mine booked in for Monday- Very impressed with the way they're doing this - only had it for 5 months and they knew to contact me (off the DVLA records?)

Just had a thought today - They'll probably have to remove the front wheels to do it? I haven't got the socket for a our locking nuts - I wonder if I can get them to put the replacements on at the same time?

it could easily be done without removing the wheels.

I have been in touch with my local dealer they referred me to Toyota GB, and there I spoke to customer services, who then referred me to a Peter Jackson who deals with imports, he then referred me to Customer Relations, who said I needed to speak to Peter Jackson (ROUND AND ROUND WE GO!!) I told them that he had reffered me to them so they spoke to him and came back to me and told me to contact TOYOTA MARKETING EUROPE on 003227452741 so I did and got a pre recorded message!!

So now it stands that I have sent an email to them saying :-

I have been in touch with Toyota GB and they have suggested i get in touch with TOYOTA EUROPE.

I own a 1995 Toyota Surf chassis no KZN 130 ****engine code 1KZN-TE and model code KD-KZN 30W-GKPOT. I have been in formed that there is a safety recall for these vehicles relating to the Steering Gear Relay Rod.

If this vehicle is subject to this recall can you please let me know how we go about arranging to have this recall carried out.

I am sure TOYOTA would not like the publicity of any of their vehicles failing due to this problem as it would reflect upon their whole vehicle range. I am sure that this is just an oversight due to these vehicles being imported direct from Japan, BUT THEY ARE STILL TOYOTA.

Thank you for your time and I look forward to your reply

                    Regards

                    Paul

So now I wait with baited breath to see where they will referre me to next ..........maybe Japan.......Maybe that the answer we all have to re export our motors back to Japan have the recall work carried out then re-import them back to the UK!!!

One of these units will fail and then the $$$$ WILL HIT THE FAN and TOYOTA will respond....TOO LATE!
