        Alarm system

I bought a Delta alarm system off Ebay
LCD 2 way, remote start, pager alarm. With rolling codes
Loads of functions built in remote locking/unlocking, rem start/stop, boot release, turbo timer
and 2 spare channels. All functions programmable.
Fitted it my self. Already had Thatcham Sigma imobiliser for insurance purposes.
On rem start or turbo timer unit bypasses imobiliser but alarm still active (armed)
Any alarm activation (doors, bonnet, interior movement etc) and engine cuts out, alarm sounds and pager signals.
at this point Sigma imobiliser is fully operational.
Used spare channel for back window. One press of rem button, programmable for 10 second operation.
Use my truck for work. I am in and out of it all the time so this is usefull for me as I can press rem button which cancels alarm and opens rear window as I walk up to vehicle.
System was not difficult to fit just awkward and time consuming to make a decent job of it. (keeping all connections secure and hidden etc.) Cost £89.00

Working on a variable timer to fit so I can have a discreet button on side panel just inside rear window
Idea is, I can put my gear in the back then press the button and walk away, back window closes, saves having to stand there holding the key. Might fit two such timers (window up-window down) This would allow me to use the "boot release channell" to open the back window. This would give me two spare channels for other ideas !!!
If you want to save money I would reccomend fitting your own system, its not that difficult.
        JJON

Normal is just a wash setting.

I tried PM CTA but no reply - I need one ASAP! I have a Cobra CAT 2 imob on it but I must fit a CAT 1 so either get an upgrade to CAT 1 or start again pref a Clifford.

Any recommended mobile fitters that cover London?

The one I am going to use is http://www.caralarmuk.com/acatalog/C...Alarms_UK.html

The 650 is £350 including VAT and fitting (they visit you as well at home/work).
Have not got round to getting mine fitted yet, must get that sorted this week (mental note to self)

                    HI mate
Turbo timer: Box that controls the engine - it can run the engine after you stop and take out the keys to allow the turbo to cool down before shutting down.
Remote start: can start the engine from the remote fob of the alarm

If there are anymore tips and good advice for a 4x4 virgin please reply.

                          Cheers

I have one for you - see if you can get them to not mount the fog lamp under the rear bumper - if you go offroading it's an endangered species !

                              Clifford Alarm

I have just had a Clifford 650 fitted by Car Stuff in Northwich.
I rang all the North West dealers and Nick was the cheapest by far(£299 for the alarm, fitted), he even gave me a lift back to the station.
Its a great alarm system, and even tho' the Blackjax system isn't
Thatcham approved ( the rest is and I really think they should approve it) its a fabulous thing to watch in action when it goes off.
I know the Intellistart can invalidate you insurance but I had it fitted.
Its only a problem if its activated. It is a blast to see you neighbours face
when your car starts up all on its own tho'!. I do work away and the thing has its advantages. If the battery starts going flat at starts to charge it and if it starts to freeze it starts to thaw it.
I am going to get the window thingy (technical term) fitted next. Its an all round great system.

Bought my own system and fitted it, just wondering how you wired up the rear window control, my RCL system has two +12 outputs as aux ouputs, do I need to put a couple of relays in to change this to a switched earth? One of the outputs stays on whilst you press the button, or 30 sec when you lock, so thought I'd use this to close, other output is a boot release so 1 sec pulse, definately need to put a latched timer on this, was hoping to connect at back of switch in centre console to avoid running MORE wiresto back of truck, incidentally I've put in a switch on the inside wired to the Key Lock so can open from inside without having to put ACC on, also put in a Perm Accessory socket which stays on, and have managed to stop thay ****** annoying "Reminder" that you've left your Key in the ignition, without stopping it telling me that I've left my lights on. Plus some ICE stuff and Central Locking from scratch, happy to provide details if anything helpful, plus moved Fog to offside Reverse Light, no more weeekly Foglight purchasing!! Any help greatly appreciated.
