  • tailgate motor cogs

The cogs on my tailgate window motor are completely worn, has anyone got a blow motor and not thrown away the unit and the cogs are ok? If not the full unit....

That's the bu@@er, teeth on the motor are just too worn to add a washer for a little extra life...

Hi Budweiser, I just ordered an MR2 MK2 window mechanism off e-bay for 20 quid. Hopefully the motor will fit. I'm still interested in fixing the old one anyway...

That looks like it could be the cog. I haven't dismantled the motor yet. If you still have my address bung it in the post and I'll see if it all fits together. I can't email you now because I've got no access to a real computer right now and I'm better at mechanics than smartphones!

Hey Budweiser, sorry mate, I'm away still and can't access my e-mail. Some kind of security thing wants to text me a code and I have no signal!
I did aready order a rear left window motor from an MR2 MK2 which apparently fits but it'll still be interesting to try and fix the old motor anyway. I'll get back to you soon as I can.

I replaced motor with one from an mr2 mk2 and it was exactly the same unit except for a few numbers on the back. Just had to snip the plugs and swop them 'round. £20 off ebay, not bad compared to the surf tailgate motor prices!
Budweiser I sent you my address again and I can see if I can fix up the old one with the new cogs - always good to have a spare.
