North East Owners Meeting and Expedition 1/11/2008
Don't think it's anything rough mate. As Andy (NE Surf) says in the original post ... The route is basically made up of some easy going and rather nice, long, open, moor top green lanes, sceanic little towns and villages.
So don't expect anything more than a fairly easy run over the moors via green lanes. Basically I think it's just a good days run out to the coast.
Thats fine by me, some off roading without damaging me truck, sounds good. you will prob see me there. Be good to meet a few of the guys from here too
I Am Very Sorry To Inform Everyone But I Have Had To Part With My Surf... My Financial Situation Has Changed And I Can No Longer Afford To Keep It... I Am Very Sorry To Let Everyone Down But I Am Going To Have To Cancel The Ferryhill To Whitby Run...

Very Sorry Everyone

Very sorry to hear that you have had to let the Surf go mate. Times are hard I know and it's only the fact that I wouldn't get much back from mine to buy something else that has probably made me hang on to her......apart from the fact that I would be devastated. Anyway it's probably the fault of the old Surf that I'm as skint as I am, but that's another story. Well what are we gonna do without your leadership over the moors? Don't suppose you fancy using the Westfileld off road do you? Was looking forward to the fish and chips as well How about walking in front of us all with a little red flag, that way we would get our day out, you would get very fit and I'd get my fish and chips. Must be a way around this mate. Anyway I was hoping to blag you into helping with a little work on my truck, so what will I do now? Come on guys we cant let a little thing like not having a Surf to play in spoil our day out, even if we have to kidnap Andy for the day. Any ideas should be written on the back of a fiver and sent to the following address....................... .............................. ..
Bugga! That's really bad news Andy, I'm sorry that you had to get rid of the Surf but at the moment finances are a problem for most people.
I don't want to be a cheeky beggar but do you have that moors green lane route to Whitby on Memory Map mate? If you do, and you can let me have it, I will try and keep the days outing ongoing. My grandson was really looking forward to it. You and Sarah are more than welcome to come along in my truck if you like as there's only me and Connor going.
Why don't one of you offer Andy a seat in their surf and become lead truck ?
I am sure Andy would appreciate the day out, you guys would appreciate his help with the run.
Trev
More than welcome to jump in with anyone o us i would think Andy, I think Yoshie is coming down with me but al just demote him to the back seat, we can all have a shot o the driving mate
You got Andy's number Jim? He may be down in the dumps and not logging in. It would be a shame if he's worked out a route and it wont get used. You out there Andy, shout up, plenty of room to come along. May even buy you a pint if you dont have to drive mate

Yeah I have his number and have sent him a text message mate. I'll give him until tomorrow to see if he replies then I'll give him a ring. Won't be the same if him and Sarah aren't there.
The route I had planned was a bit of a joint effort between me and my friend James, I drove it with him last year on new years eve. The maps for the route are all saved on his memory map program which is on his lap top which lives in his landrover... The plan was for him to lead using his GPS mapping software and for us to follow him beacause I dont have a laptop or GPS receiver.
I am going up to see him on tuesday night to see if he is still interested in going... or if he can print off the route so I can just sit in with one of you guys...
Andy, I have a GPS reciever, a laptop with Memory Map on and an invertor to run the laptop. I'm sure we could work something out. My offer still stands mate. Let me know how things pan out.
Very sorry everyone but I have had no joy with getting the route off my mates laptop, he has just updated his software and is on him self re-plotting the lanes.
I have been on wayfinder last night to see if I can retrace the route but I dont really know how to go on with it.
All I can realy remember without looking at our saved route is that it starts at guisbough and works over to the main whitby road, the lanes are rather long and I just cant seem to find them on wayfinder.
Anyone got any suggestions where else I can look? I cant even remember where we originally got the route from.
Sorry to hear about surf mate, guttered for ya, and jim iv lost my phone numbers, giz a ring, want to hear how the lift went
Will do mate. It looks like this Whitby trip is, sadly, not going to take place so if you're out at the weekend count me in! (I've got a body lift and a CB to try out!)
