  • Run to the snow and mud early 2009

I'm gonna try and organise a Scottish outing for everyone.
It will take in some of Scotlands best scenery (and pubs) and hopefully some brilliant snowscapes and fantastic mountain views.
Perhaps even a bit of skiing or snowboarding for those who want to get the best views of all.

I would expect a decent turnout from the Scottish lads and lassies (hopefully) and I hope some of our southern surfers can make it too.

A trip to the mighty Drumclog will be included.

Perhaps 2 or 3 days in total with costs kept to a minimum using the excellent hostel facilities at Avimore or Fort William.

Any advice and help in organising this will be gratefully received so don't be shy, let me know what you think, what you want to do and where you want to go.

At this early stage anything is possible so lets get it sorted.

    Cheers Alan.

The first thing is get the dates arranged and then the following.
What you need to do is to sort out the main event for the weekend and make sure you have a campsite for the particular dates you are holding the event.
Then make sure you have the use of the facilities you said about and if not source some porta loos as cheap as you can as long as they are decent.
Arrange other events around the main event.

Try to get a final price for each truck about 1 month in advance if possible.

Hope this helps you a bit.
If theres anything i can help out with info/advice wise give me a shout

      Cheers Richard.
I'm thinking Drumclog as main event and then a drive next day up north to the snow, stay the night and last day is travel home or see more of the sights.

Drumclog should be around £25-£30 to drive camp and have portaloos (depending on numbers)

Try not to go to big on the first one as once you start organising it takes over after a bit.
My first rtts we had 9 trucks and then last year i think it was about 16 and this year we have 32 on the list.
I was lucky as a local farmer i used to work for lets us use a paddock for £5 a night camping and put in new running water for us so i just order in 2 porta loos which cost £94 on a weeks hire.
Then i book up the off roading as early as possible if theres enough interest in the event.
Friday night is a p155 up and bbq so thats easy enough,Saturday is the off roading then out to a pub in the evening for a meal.I get orders for food in by 2 weeks before the event for the pub to make arrangements then on the sunday we'll do some lanes.
Its just making sure everything comes together right and if you can do that then you'll have a ###### good weekend

i would love to come but its a hell of a drive for the weekend but we'll see what things are like closer the time

Thanks for all the advice Richard, just need to see who might be interested and then plan how to organise the numbers into a cracking weekend.

Camping will be chilly in Feb at the Clog so folks will need to be prepared, but I can organise plenty of pallets for a massive fire.

I'll check portaloo prices and get yoshie onboard as coordinator.

              Oh really lol.

              All what Richard said.

The single most important thing is to post a date.

Don't worry about route details yet - anyone driving from England / Wales won't really care where they are going - well my lot don't when they come to the Wales run haha.

Call me when you get my number

              Cheers

                          Brrrr. Nutters!

As some of you probably worked out by now, I dont do cold / wet.

I'm a closet Australian and long for the hot / sandy / dry / rocky offroading they have, or massive USA rock crawls in the desert. Why anyone would want to use up valuable fuel actually WANTING to go somewhere colder and wetter is beyond me!

But best of luck with the trip, it sounds... erm... lovely!
