Hi, just signed up and only picked up my Surf yesterday. Saw this thread after looking for some events and I'd like to put my name down if thats ok, for me and the girl friend. I live in Dorset, south England so it'll be a treck up there but should be worth it :-)

Being a newbie, would someone mind giving me some tips on what I should bring and how I should get prepared for this trip? I will be getting in as much practice off road between now and the trip but I dont want to be the let down off the group! My background is more rally driving so 4x4 off roading is a big change

A decent set of AT tyres is a good use of any spare cash.
Unless you plan to spend a lot of time off road and I don't mean greenlanes, then maybe consider a set of MTs instead.
Have a look on the site in my sig go to events pics and you will find loads of Drumclog. This is where Alan plans to finish the trip with an off road day.
You wont need anything for this trip. And you wont slow us down we all start togethere and finish togethere all the time. That's half the fun.
As for strops and shackles we will sort you with them if you require.
Just bring a sense of humour and a desire for a laugh with and at each other.
Remember every one of us went off road for the first time once.Last edited by yoshie; 1 August 2008, 16:02.Brian
