Absolutely fabulous weekend!
OK, it rained pretty much from when we set up camp to when I left this morning, but what the hell! The route (well, actually four of them) I would rate from pretty good to awesome!
The first one was a bit noddy, but I suppose the guys had to break people in gently - they dont know who's bringing what.
The second one was generally on grass tracks through woodland. Very very tight in places. A Surf was probably as wide as you'd get through. A Landcruiser would have it's arches ripped off by good old welsh granite.
The third one was probably the longest, and was a trek across mountain moorland after quite a long climb to about 450m. It was a bit samey apart from about a mile or so of soft muddy track which added a bit of interest to the otherwise easy slate / pebbly track. If the weather had been better, the views would have been breathtaking.
The last run was by far the best in my opinion. It consisted of tight, rocky and steep track, climbing to about 400m with some quite technical bits where large boulders waited to bite the unwary as you climbed up them or down them. For quite a while there was no let-up, and concentration was required all of the time. It was quite physically demanding too.
I have lots of video (from the roofbar camera - which is now full of water) and stills which I'll post later after I've s$$$$ed the muck off myself.
