Dont worry one bit about having a standard surf. You will be amazed at what the surfs can do as standard. The best first offroading mod you can do is a decent set of 31" tyres.

What tyres would you recomend ?? I was thinking of some 50% road 50% offroad as most of my driving is road use but i think i would have to have a decent amount of offroad tread for it to be any good and to get grip.

if you want a balance between offroad/onroad then certainly go for AT (all terrain at 50/50)..had colway and now BFG and had no probs to date. Mud terrain have large tread patterns for self cleaning and can be noisy on road travel

A good AT tread is fine as Gizmo says like BFG, General Grabber AT or Colway AT`s. You get tyres which are labelled as AT`s but are more road-biased. They are best kept to the road but ok for a little play around. Dont go buying any tyres til you been off-roading as you may not like it.

Ive been offroading at robin hoods bay, And nearly rolled my surf on a big bank that i could not stop on and i stopped at the start of a deep puddle and nearly went through the fence onto the railway line . Im still here to tel the tail though . lol.

I have two other people coming with me as far as i know, A 4track and a vitara..
Im looking forward to getting up to my eyes in the muddy stuff.

yES, Chris & family- possibly for the sunday night now as well. Does anybody know if schools all over break up on 20th? If so maybe I`ll go an alternative route to the M6 as gets quite chocker with The Lakes traffic on school hols.

Count me in colin, Ill be there and looking forward to it. There is possibly 2 other 4x4 coming with me but they arnt 100%. What time is everyone going to be there on the saturady morning ?? And what time is the place open till as ill be coming of night shift on the saturday morning at 6am and will need 2 or 3 hours sleep before i set off.
