Thanks Tony. Just so I'm clear then; I buy the 2"KIT from Roughtrax, give it to my garage, he takes 8 pieces off and puts 8 pieces back on, job done?

If you're carrying huge amounts of water in the back, DONT take the ARBs off or it will be a feckin nightmare. You didn't say you were struggling with articulation, and thats the only thing it would change - and even then, not that much at the front.

A sus lift and plush longer shocks will improve things, as will a little less air in bigger tyres.

It would work well for you, i'd assume you not want to loose normal road manners to much, and just stiffen up the suspension and gain a little ground clearance.

A simple 2" suspension lift would be fine IMHO, and leave the rest alone.
well if he is off road 90% of the time a diff spacer would be a must for me i did not like the angle of all the other surfs that i have come a cross and the one bugered front diff that Scott had at drumclog the trouble finding a second hand diff the choice is up to you but 40 quid for a diff spacer or a new front diff i would spend 40 quid any day and it is only one bolt

Apache, don't really understand your reply; what's ARB? Handling beforehand was fine, just moved to a different country where I'm off road most of the time and want to improve my ride without going OTT.

Jeff; don't know anything about diff spacers, it can hardly be a 2" lift "KIT" if it doesn't have all the bits you need to do the change over correctly, surely?

dont know but lift kit came fro them 2 years ago n the diff spacer did nit come with it but i have seen the damage to the cv joints gaters and one front diff that belonged to scotty from larkhall in lanarkshire i helped hid redmove a front diff from a 4 runner that had the same axel code with where you live do you want to go looking for a new front diff all the diff spacer is a a allie block that is around 2.5 to 3 inch round and is 2 inch high you undo the bolt holds the front to the cross beam jack it down slide the spacer in slide the bolt in place do it back up and you will have no worries you will see what i meam when you do the lift have a look at the angle of the frount drive shafts and i bet to change your mind

You don't need the block on a 3rd Gen 2" lift (its only 40mm in reality) it's for people who want to lift the front of 2nd Gens more than 1 1/2" -2" on the front.

On thses truck the driveshaft angle becomes to big after this, and you wear CV's and rip the gaiters.

The block lowers the back of the diff a little, so the CV joints arn't so strained.

The downside is it also ruins the angle of the pinion flange of the diff in relation to the transfer case flange, so puts more strain on the diff and UJ's, when in 4WD it might vibrate more, not so bad on a 2nd gen, but you can use 4WD on the road at high speeds in a 3rd Gen, so I'd leave it out anyway.

The front drive shafts and diffs on a 3rd gen are very different to a 2nd gen, so you can't really compare the two. The drive shafts themselve are slightly longer, so will have less CV angle for the same lift as well.

hehe, I have made a couple, but not many. Like I said, they have their uses in helping CV angles, but only if you going 2" or more on the front, but like most things there is a downside, you never get a free lunch in life..

                          Lift kit wanted

Anyone know where I can buy a 2" lift kit, OTHER THAN the "completely useless at responding to emails" Ruff trax ?
Also want some exhaust rubbers (new), Front Anti-rollbar bush kit (new)?

Need this stuff ASAP as the car is in the garage at the moment.

I did get an email from Barry, but I've sent 3 more asking about the kit and stock and just haven't had a reply.
Really can't be bothered dealing with a company that won't respond to customers who are going to spend £500 with them. Never have done, never will.

That dosn't sound like Roughtrax. Never known them to ignore a customer request.
