For driving on snow, I wouldn't have thought extreme travel would be your main concern. For silly depth of snow, you want wide tyres at low pressure.

If you're just driving on cleared roads where its snowing again, you probably dont need to do much too extreme. Snow chains on ATs might be the best bet?

Truth is, due to global warming, most of the roads are clear.
BUT... it's not unknown to drive in on a clear road, then be faced with 3' of snow on the way out!
this winter was the worst in recent history for deaths due to avalanches thru heavy, unpacked snowfall, (won't go into all the techy boring stuff about layers, affects of wind, rain, sun, repeated freezing, thawing etc blah blah.)
concerning the lift and tyres, if it just looks cool 95% of the time, but actually serves a serious purpose the rest of the time, i'll be happy.

        It's Scots Rod.

And being Scottish doesn't make us right all the time, just better at arguing

If you were coming up on Stiens tour you would see first hand how mean spirited and stingy we Scots can be.

Quite a bit, according to most snow tyre tech around the 'net, good A/T's are reckoned to better in fresh snow than M/T's.

The theory is, snow sticks to itself, ie, snowballs. M/T self clean, so just shovel snow. Snow packed A/T's will give a little grip on the snow on the ground.

Fresh snow on hardpacked snow is a nightmare.

Think it was a bit more than caught Rod and that was with a 2" suspension and 2" body lift. Unfortunately only running 31's on each corner at the moment but will be going to 33:s asap

I had to hammer my transfer plate back into shape after a river run at clog, at least it did it's job.

Full underbody protection would be nice but unless you have a dedicated offroader is it practical to have all that extra weight for everyday use?
