if you were to cut your bar, then fit the lift and leave each end connected up so there was a gap, could you just put a tubular metail piece in between and weld them together? what sort of thing would you use? how thick would it have to be? 2-3mm?Oh Nana, what's my name?

Hmmmm, not a bad idea. You'd have to centre the body on the suspension before welding it up, but it sounds doable. I reckon if the tube was a nice tight fit on the bar, and sleeved the bar by 5 or 6 inches each end it would work.Cutting steps in the roof of the world
