Hi all
I've recently gone up to 33s, and ever since, the truck is experiencing some pretty violent wobbles, though only between 30-50mph on roughly surfaced roads or rural roads with small corrugations. The whole truck feels very unsteady during the vibrations, and it wobbles around really badly. The steering wheel isn't violent, just the feeling right up through the chassis, right to the back.
These are roads I've done for years - up until last week - on my old tyres (32") with nothing like the same reaction.
I've since replaced all four shocks with brand new Pedders, fitted a new track rod end and had a full, proper, digitally calculated laser alignment for toe, camber and caster. There's no change. It's also just had its MOT so I know there's nothing too obviously bad, and in the last year or so I've had the prop shaft off and balanced and new UJs. It's also had uprated Lesjofers springs fitted in the last 2 years which have been stiff but strong, and certainly not caused this up to now.
I've done the same roads with 25 psi in all four tyres, and 30 psi, and there's very little difference in the way it feels. I'd go up to 35-40psi but I can only imagine it would be worse? The truck with the new suspension and tyres is very crashy, not a comfortable ride at all.
I should point out its absolutely fine above 50mph, on motorways it's great, though I'm not sure if this is due to a different resonance or naturally smoother road surfaces. At present I daren't off road in it as it would shake my fillings out.
Can anyone advise?
Owen
