  • Help my surf`s died!

My 1996 KZN185 3.0td suddenly cut out as I pulled into my drive then when i tried to re-start,it starts normally then cuts out immediately.
I have run through all the ECU pinout and component tests which have been inconclusive, I suspect either the Crank position sensor or ECU.
Has anyone had the same problem or got any idea please??

No aftermarket junk at all, I have ordered a crank position sensor
as when I removed it the plastic lug crumbled away.

          my surf`s Died

At last I`ve got time to update the progress on my surf.
After sending the ECU to the ECU doctor for testing- all OK
I took the plunge and whipped out the pump and sent it away
to TTautomotive in loughborough to have it bench tested.
The day after i sent it they rang to say the spill control valve
was foobarred, they fitted a known good unit and re-ran the
test which showed the pump had no advance. After stripping
the pump they found excessive wear internally.
So £740 later I have a shiney fully overhauled pump.
Refitted and now starts on the button, no smoke and more power!
Also having just done a 200 mlie round trip with my 3.5 ton Ifor williams
trailler to collect my nephews renault clio, it only used just over half a
tank of diesel! a great improvement in mpg :-)))
I can really recomend both ECU doctor (plymouth) and TT automotive
Who although a little pricey gave fantastic service.
