Not sure how far it's ment to be so no it was about 3cm at a guess it did look and feel like it was right

I've always wondered about that....
There's two sets of splines, the outer set for the fluid pump, the inner set for the input shaft.
Sometimes it's just the input shaft splines that engage when refitting the torque converter so it 'feels' like it's seated correctly. If you pull the T/C toward you slightly, turn it a couple of degrees and push it back in, it suddenly 'clunks' in another inch or so.
It saves time if you measure the the distance as in the diagram above to ensure it's seated correctly to avoid damaging the torque converter's internals as the bellhousing bolts are tightened.Last edited by BUSHWHACKER; 29 June 2013, 13:41.
