transfer box

Hi everyone,
Complete newbie to this forum so hello to you all!
I have been given details of this forum by roughtrax to help me out. I think I am looking for a transfer box for my Surf KZN185 auto TD 1997. I say "think" as no garage has been able to tell me what is wrong with my surf so far. I cannot get 4WD and have since found out that someone previously has welded a strip of metal to the transfer gearbox lever so I can't put it in 4WD. It still goes fine in 2WD but anything so much as damp grass puts it in wheel spin- very embarassing! Has anyone heard of this before and if I do need a transfer box does anyone have one suitable? Hi, No still haven't got it sorted. The cost of the transfer box itself put hubby off and I don't know if that is the problem yet! Still, even in 2WD with winter tyres it still got through the last patch of snow while all else was sliding around like Torville and Dean!
