1993 2.4 auto..
Just been up to the Lake District loaded up with camping gear. On the way up a mountain pass (Honister Pass) burnt my gearbox oil, but have a cooler to fit that will hopefully prevent that happening again.
On the way down the other side had to continually brake to stop the surf taking off down the hill, what with no engine braking. Came to a halt to give way to another car and the pedal went spongey and started to roll... Handbrake on and I stopped to be greeted by loads of smoke from both front wheel arches..
Pads were newish - fitted jan with new calipers and fluid etc for mot.
I've just ordered some genuine toyota pads and the roughtrax stainless hose kit.
So is it just that I had pattern pads on or could it be my driving style ? Is there a way to descend without having to use the brakes constantly ? What about grooved / drilled discs ?
Surely a surf should be able to drive down a mountain road with no trouble ?
Cheers,
Rob.
