Fitting LC Springs

Is it possible to take the top control arm off allowing the axel to drop enough to fit LC springs without compressors. Once in place put wheels on and drop the truck using its weight to allow the control arm bolt to be replaced.

I've sent Vince a pm but hes not on anyone else done it this way?

just take the bottom bolt from the Shock and then take ythe wheel off and have someone stand on the hub once jacked up so you should be able to fit the springs easier

Yes in short mate. Im not sure how much of a pig it would be to undo it.

I'd try Stormforces way an if that fails then check out removing the control arm.

I don't think i have heard of anyone taking the control arm off to do the springs

It wont work if u have a standard rear brakeline. Disconnect the brakeline and clamp it, then do wot Rich said.

1.disconnect both rear shocks from the bottom
2.disconnect both sides of thr rear antiroll bar
3.disconnect panhard rod
4.disconnect brake hose.
get someone to step on the rear axle as you insert springs.then re fit everything.bleed brakes job done.

I did. The amount you can push down on the axle on the drivers side is limited 'cos the top control arm touches the tank.
Removing the shocks is a given as they'll be replaced with longer ones anyway.
Just make sure the rigid brake line is uncliped from the axle first.

I just did that mate, took arm off cos i needed to relocate the tops, works a treat, the very end of the spring top has to be overlapping the rubber seat, then the rest of the spring sits in its cup, leaving it straight and not touching the shock anymore.
