  • Newer version of EPC available

I've found a newer more comprehensive copy of the Toyota EPC's available as a torrent.

    It contains

    Japan A1 (07/2004)
    Japan A2 (07/2004)
    Japan B1 (01/2004)
    Japan B2 (01/2004)
    Japan B3 (01/2004)
    Japan F1 (07/2004)(Frame)
    Europe A1 (10/2004)
    Europe A2 (10/2004)
    Europe B1 (01/2004)
    Europe B2 (01/2004)
    General A1 (01/2004)
    General A2 (01/2004)
    General B1 (01/2004)
    General B2 (01/2004)
    Overseas F1 (10/2004)(Frame)
    Overseas F2 (01/2004)(Frame)
    U.S.A. A1 (08/2003)
    U.S.A. A2 (04/2003)

And of course the EPC program itself

Its not a simple single DVD install like the version some of us are using, but the guy who created the package has included a few movie clips showing you how to unrar (unpack) the files, burn the disc's, install the EPC and load the discs etc. The video's are not brilliant, but will be helpful for those who have not installed or used the EPC before.

I found I did not have the correct codec installed to view the movie clips (sound was OK, just no picture), the required codec can be found at http://www.techsmith.com/download/codecs.asp

You'll need 8.52GB just to install the data, but the EPC does not like to install where it sees more than 5GB of free space. It can also be funny about placing the data on an NTFS drive.
My solution was to create a separate 10GB partition for the data formatted as FAT32. I then installed the EPC program to my C drive and set the data store to the new partition, in this case the T drive. I had to temporarily copy additional files to the T drive to reduce the free space below 5GB and proceeded to install around half of the data disks. I then removed the additional files previously added and proceeded to install the remaining data disks.
Its a bit of a long winded procedure, but if you really want all available info installed it'll do the trick.

Its a fairly large torrent weighing in at 3.44GB and not very well seeded, took me about 5 days (24/7) to get it downloaded.
Hopefully, if a few more of us download it and continue to seed for a bit it will make it easier and quicker for those who follow to get it.

    Get the torrent here http://www.isohunt.com/download/16518590/epc+toyota

Note: there appear to be 3 identical torrents available for this, I've listed the one I used as it appears marginally better seeded, plus I'll continue to seed it for a while.

What's the UI like on this one Morr? Is it still as convoluted? Just started Azureus up. (I hate opening the firewall up by any degree). Cheers for the heads up, BTW.

Its the same EPC as before, just that some of the data disks are newer and there are a lot more of them, sorry if I gave the impression the software itself was a newer version.
I don't think there is a newer EPC as I know my local dealership still uses exactly the same one.

No probs. It ain't the interface that's the important bit. Got 'em on the go downloading now, so I'll pop 'em up when I've got 'em over here. Setting up, (or trying, should I say), a ftp server at the moment as some people seem to be experiencing probs downloading over http. Hopefully should make life easier for people. (Whomever designed ftp was a sadist though).

Are cct diags on the EPC?

I want the wiring diagram, cable colours, of the the cct that controls the auto transmission solenoids of a '93 2.4tdi.
Is this sort of data on the EPC?
          Thanks

Not as far as I know. Have a browse round here, there might be something of use:

Morr, have pulled the EPC down, and am getting it prepped to go up on a ftp server. Cheers for that. Greatly appreciated. Popping this one on ftp to see if it's a bit more reliable than http for the people on errant internet links. Will post the link once it's ready. Thanks again.

I might be able to help if you can let me have an email address. I've got circuit scans but they are too big to post here.

Roger, any chance I might acquire a copy of those as well? I can pop 'em up with the other stuff on the server then.

Morr, just to save having to go through the docs, what's the layout for installing to the HD? Are the directory names irrelevant, or do they have to have specific names, i.e: J1, J2, E1, E2 etc. Also, can the Jap files be put in a different directory to the EU databases, i.e japan/A1, japan/A2, europe/A1, europe/A2, or do the database folders have to go into a central directory? Apologies for brain picking, but was gonna' try and do the iso's as well as extracted versions, but need to have an idea of what layout the prog requires.

                        Cheers.

Matt, I'm not entirely sure what your trying to do.
I burned the iso's (all 18 of em).
First install the EPC program (not required if already installed)
Launch the EPC and goto "CD Setup", then "CD Setup" again.
Starting with the "European Area Version" tick the box, then click on "Add", highlight all the discs you wish to add and select "Hard Disk".
Do the same for "USA", "Japan" etc.
                          Click on "F10:Exec"
It will prompt you for the disks in order, in the following sequence, Euro - General - USA - Jap - Overseas Frame - Jap Frame.
It will give little indication of progress when installing the discs, as long as its not looking for another disc or giving any warning messages at the bottom it should be proceeding OK, takes a few minutes for each disc.

When completed you will have the following folders, TMCEPCW2, TMCTMPW2 and TMCMSTW2.
TMCMSTW2 in my case is on the T drive, but this is because I specified a seperate partition to overcome the 5GB space difficulty I mentioned earlier, it could just as easily be on the C Drive with the others. It contains all the data extracted from the various ISO's.
                          This directory contains 18 folders which seem to correspond to the separate disks, they are E1, E2, E3, E4, EF, EG, G1, G2, G3, G4, J1, J2, J3, J4, J5, JF, U1 & U2

Not sure if I've actually managed to answer your question

That was the bit I was after. The database dirs layout. I was just trying to extract them from the iso's and do a straight zip of the directories, so they could be copied over to the database folder on the HD, like the last version did. The EF and EG folders. Are they the two overseas frame directories?

                            Thanks again Morr.

Edit: The reasoning behind this idea is merely to make it, (if possible), so that either the iso's can each be downloaded separately, (to make them smaller than the combined rar archives were), or as directories, which wouldn't need burning to a cd prior to installing the databases.

The dir idea went out of the window for the moment. Needs some files from the directories once the DB's are installed. The iso's are now up, though, split into individual zips for each iso. Limited connection, so won't be no speed demon, but here they are:

                              ftp.bauchan.org

There's a ftp client that can be downloaded and used in the root dir, (the Filezilla exe), which is preferable to use over a browser, as ftp client software has better resume/download support than browsers. If one hasn't got a ftp client already, just connect to the address: ftp://ftp.bauchan.org with your browser and download the client that way.
