  • Can someone confirm something for me..?

I started my body lift today.

Didn't get it finished, for reasons I won't go into, but it will be being finished tomorrow..

The rad shroud. It's a bugger to get off, and I've read a post on here about there being a bolt holding the shroud on at the bottom. But... As I'm fitting drop brackets on the rad, surely I don't actually need to remove the shroud at all, do I?

The rad bolts are out, so I'm thinking that when the body is lifted, the fan will help to lower the rad, due to the shroud being there, and it can then be rebolted in place with the drop brackets..

    Not missing anything, am I??
    It just does, OK?

You wont be able to fit the drop brackets without moving the rad, as there's not enough room, you're better off removing the rad, fitting the brackets then mounting the rad onto the studs
If it aint broke dont fix it

half way down the shroud there is a clip on each side you have to prise those off in order to split the shroud.
I did do mine with it all in place but it was tight but did manage it.

And yes Gary i did snap the bolt...

Yeah, mine's got bolts holding the top and bottom halves together..

Didn't really want to have to remove the rad, really, but if it's the easiest way...

How about removing the fan instead???????
        It just does, OK?

We, (I) didn't touch the rad or fan when fitting Apaches bodylift.
Just remove the four bolts holding the shroud onto the rad, fit the drop brackets to the rad and then re-fit the shroud to the drop brackets.

I think we left the botton half of the shroud off though, Apache yanked, sorry, removed that part, can't remember now.

Thats 3.0 thing. The bottom bolt just holds the 2 halves together, so you don't need to undo it.

If you don't have the bottom half of the shroud on, you don't even need to drop the rad on 3.0's (we didn't on Linda's) 2.4's are probably the same, if the top shroud doesn't go round at the bottom.

The problem I've got is getting to that blummin middle bottom bolt on the shroud...

Got an underslung a/c rad, so going from below isn't an option.. Maybe that's why Apache wrestled his off!!!

We did take the bash-plate off though.

You don't need to get to it. See my above post...

Ah yeah, no A/C rad under the 3.0.

                        Good luck Dave!

I assume you mean it holds the two halves of the shroud together? Mine's split top to bottom, not left to right.

I've removed the two bolts, one either side, that hold top/bottom together, but I can't free the lower half...

There's four bolts, one above the other on both sides.

That's for the rad to the body, yes, but the shroud is one bolt either side.
