Differences in the SSR-# models

what happaned was, all surfs are SSR. In the surf factory, there is a big bin containing the leftover letters G,X,V, and a limited supply of LTD badges, as the japanese are a resourceful people, they didn't want to waste any materials and the now obsolete "TOYOTA GXV-LTD" had a lot of leftover letters which found themselves on the back of surfs, it is like a lucky dip, the production worker sticks his hand in the "letters bin" and pulls out a letter, and sticks it on the back of the surf, if the worker pulls out three succesive matching letters, he celebrates by sticking on a LTD badge as well, if he gets 5 in a row, then the celebrations extend to include the surf , and recaro's are fitted, 8 in a row gets recaro's and a wooden dash.

i think they fit the first thing they pick up including the letters on the back, we now have 90 surfs with 2lte engines in, and toyota say they didnt fit them till mid 91, look out for the 94 intercooler model

Ssr-g

Just got an SSR-G.
Mines got a/c e/w e/s reccaro seats cd player etc, but a plastic dash facia.
Also got cruise control in steering wheel centre (small diameter NARDI Wheel - is this a standard fit ?)

Welcome Stewart,

Not 100% on this but I think the SSR-G is the top spec. The SSR-X is the next one down. The SSR-X is fully loaded with air-con 4x elec windows, roof spoiler, adjustable suspension etc. The SSR-G adds recaro seats and a wooden dash I think.

I had a '93 SSR-X a few years ago and it had every extra I wanted. So I think the SSR-G should have all the extras plus recaros. I am open to correction on this though.

I have a '98 SSR-G now and it is the top spec in the 3rd gen's...

One way or another, whatever Surf you get, you will be happy!!!

I have a 1996 3Ltr SSR-X,mines does not have adjustable suspension,but it does have all the rest of the things you mentioned.I was under the impression that you only got adjustable suspension on the SSR-G and SSR-XLtd models?I stand to be corrected on this.

SSR-X Limiteds

Hi l have THREE 3.0litre SSR-X Limiteds and none of them have the adjustable suspension and they are 1 late 1994 & 2 1995s, But l have 3 SSR-G,s and they all have it and 3 SSR-X,s that have it as well. So it it hard to say what comes with what Model.

Well my '89 SSR-Ltd has:
Elec Windows
Elec Mirrors
AirCon
Adjustable suspension
Height adjustable seat
Adjustable Lumbar
Adjustable side thingies on drivers seat to hold you in better
Adjustable steering wheel
Adjustable dash lights
The only thing that isn't adjustable is the drivers attitude

My 1995 ssr-x had adjustable suspension but no bl**dy switch to operate the things! (its now got es9000s much better).
