  • Differences in the SSR-# models

    Hi All,

Being new to the joy's of driving a Surf and this forum, I am considering purchasing my first surf from a local dealing in Hook. I have tryed to search the forum to see if I could get a break down of the spec differences between the SSR-# models?

I would have thought that this question has been answered to many times but thought it was worth a go .

The model that I have found is a 92/K plate the model indicates that it is a SSR-G but then has a couple more letters after it which escapes me for the moment. I was wondering if anybody could advise me on the most preferred model?

I look forward to hearing/chatting to everyone.

    Thanks in advance.
    Stewart.

    Welcome Stewart,

Not 100% on this but I think the SSR-G is the top spec. The SSR-X is the next one down. The SSR-X is fully loaded with air-con 4x elec windows, roof spoiler, adjustable suspension etc. The SSR-G adds recaro seats and a wooden dash I think.

I had a '93 SSR-X a few years ago and it had every extra I wanted. So I think the SSR-G should have all the extras plus recaros. I am open to correction on this though.

I have a '98 SSR-G now and it is the top spec in the 3rd gen's...

One way or another, whatever Surf you get, you will be happy!!!

Mines an SSRX-Limited which has the same as the G model but has Carbon look dash instead of wood with a different upholstry to the SSR-X but not bucket seats...i think that that is the only difference....

And i am chuffed with it too!

dont get to set on getting a top model as some of the others as the same in as extras, what you need to look for is a nice clean low milage example if possible, dont buy the first one you see, ssr-g 2nd gen dont have the wood dash only the 3rd gen,

I have a 3.0 '94 SSR-G Limited which doesnt have a wood dash or recaros.

It does have a sunroof, spoiler, adjustable suspension etc, etc.

I guess this just adds to the confusion!

As Ian says - the specification available on these trucks in Japan is very flexible and people buy different equipment packages / specifications so you could get an SSR-X as high spec as the G or a lower model with more gear than the X !!! It really does depend on the vehicle - so look around and don't jump into the decision!

As you can see, quite variable. Not all SSR-G's have Recaro's, infact my old 2nd gen SSR-X had far superior seats to my current 3rd Gen SSR-G !

                        Hi all,

Thanks for all the reply's, I will take the advise to look around and try to find one that I like before rushing into a purchase. I have seen 9 different cars over the past week and they all very in spec, but I think I have an idea of the differences. It seems it is pot luck of the spec to the models.

                        Thanks.
                        Stewy.
