  • How to get sunroof cable out

I think the end has snapped off the cable that runs through the cog on the sunroof movement motor - I've had the motor out and the cable end is sitting just next the cog, but not touching it. The motor works OK but the cable is now either too short or has been pulled through the wrong way and out of the cog.

How can I remove this cable? It looks like I need to dismantle the entire roof to get it out. The headlining appears to run the full length of the vehicle also....

    Is this a common fault?

Yes you need to remove the headlining, to do this the side panels need to come out - carefull with the clips. You will then need to remove the Sunroof assembly - about 8 bolts.

    Yes it's reasonably common.

Had to change the glass on mine. You can do it in about 4 to 5 hours.

4 to 5 hours??? Hmm, so it 's guaranteed to take me at least a day because stuff like this always takes 4 times as long as it should. I think it can wait until next spring or summer then - not much use for a sunroof "ooop north" in winter (or in summer come to that...****** silly rainy weather...)
