4wd/2wd vacume solenoid?

Been out again trying to work out my electric 4wd/2wd system which won't disengage and came across this solenoid vacume thingy. It has what looks like two little air filters on the bottom ends and block connectors (one brown, one blue) then various air tubes heading into the bowels of the truck.
I took both connectors off to check if they were clean and both were, but when re fitting I noticed with ignition on the blue connector would make small electric crackle noises so guess it works fine. However the brown one was silent, no noise but just clipped back in.
Are these related to the electric ADD system? Can new ones be bought if broke? This Toyota electric mallarchy is a mine field haha. Cheers, Tom

IIRC but will check anyway. Blue engages the ADD. Brown disengages. Should have power to blue with button in or in 4WD low range. Power to brown when disengaged. Let me know what's happens with yours.

Try disengaging 4WD by swapping the two hoses on the VSVs around that go down to the front diff. Could be faulty switch on transfer case gear selector.

Above applies to the earlier models. Just realised you have a 3rd generation. Probably the same though. Just check for power at each VSV plug with button in and out.

Hi Nev, had a look today at work to check air hoses to actuator and diaphragm but all seem fine. Took her to a friend of mine who specialises in 4x4s, we jacked the front end up to check is was engaging/disengaging but found that in 2wd hi the front wheels drove and rears didn't and in 4wd all four drove. I've actually just posted a feed in General regarding this as surely a gen 3 isn't FWD in hi2?? Spoke to dealer I got her from and their electric engineer said have a faulty solenoid at top of gear box so is that causing front to drive and not rears in hi2?

Late reply. Have you solved the problem yet. I really can't work out how you can have front wheel drive in high range 2WD. Weird. There's quite a few third generation owners here who may be able to help.
