I have recently bought a Hilux Surf SSR-X, model 1997, turbo-intercooler.
The light for the glow plugs goes off after a second or two, the start up is a bit prolonged. CAN WE ADJUST THE TIMER FOR THE GLOW PLUGS? HOW?

Hi n Welcome, ya glowplug light sounds about right.. sounds like ya could do with some new Glowplugs !!
Not sure about altering the glowplug timing...
Do a search as somebody recently asked the same Q !!

The light is just an indicator that the system is operating. The timer is ECU controlled depending on engine temperature. Leave key in on position untill you hear a clunk from the glow plug relay then try to start. If you leave the key on a little longer you should hear a beep. Check glow plug voltage. It should be around 10.5V and then drop to around 6.5 after a few seconds. No voltage may be blown fuse. Glow plugs are best tested for resistance individually and should be less than 1 Ohm.

nev's spot on, I find on really cold mornings that after light goes out (about 3 seconds) that if I leave it until I hear the relay click it fires up easily after a couple of turns of the starter.
