yes, after i upgraded the looms i had a combination of a faulty relay, damp, and enough residual current to switch the relay.

I have'nt upgraded me lights tho, thinking i got a short maybe earthing them,
perhaps it's what caused my batterys to drain over 3 weeks although the light's wer'nt on

OK, i'm not sure if this'll help but as you look at the plug you have

        (HB)
        HIGH BEAM
        -----
        (LB) | | (Co)
        LOW BEAM | | COMMON

edit: It messed me diagram, check the pic attached
HB & LB might be the other way round, i can't remember.

Lights off all 3 have earth.
        Lights on dipped: Co + , LB - , HB +
        Lights on main: Co + , LB + , HB -

So they are actually switching the earths to switch between dipped and main.

Cheer's Ian, i'll have a check round tomorrow, i take it this is to do with this negative switching surf are said to have, this gave me trouble about a year and a half ago when i was wireing my spots up, i was takeing advice about where to run my high beam feed from and the buggers just would not work, i then sort of trusted my own testing (with a test light) for a live on HB and wired em as normal and they worked, and have worked fine ever since,
if i rember when i first got the truck back together about 3 monthe ago when i connected the batterys the head lights came on and would not go off on the stalk switch, i turned on the ign and try'd again and they went off and have been ok since,
bl00dy wierd as i know they wer'nt on when i parked up, just come on on their own,

or perhaps it's down to haloween

I've only had problem's since i played with the loom, touchwood they've been alright with the latest setup. but three times they've come on well after i parked up, they woke me up reflecting off the house opposites window at 2 in the morning the first time.

It's a horrible setup though, i'm sure there's an easier way of wiring them.

Right seems ok now, had a fiddle about but it still seems wierd to me, here's how it went,
reconnected battery, light's did'nt come back on,
turned em on, they stayed on,
              turned ign on, still on,
turned r/h indicator on, still on,
turned l/h indicator on, went off,
              ign off, still off,
turned em on and off, still on,
touched a wire on the n/s headlight and after some moveing em about the light's went off (also heard the relay click)
turned em on and wriggled the relay about they went off, did this several times and they now seem to be be opperating fine only sticking momentirily a couple of times,
so sticky relay?? see how it goes, although wtf the l/h indicator had to do with it god knows
