That's an awesome engine. And I should know.
Here's mine; same engine with some extra goodies:
In 4R:
My mechanic:
If you get it to run, next thing you need is a front brake swap and a few spare rear diffs. If you decide to run a W series gearbox instead of an R series: a few of them also.
If you have any questions or need detailed pics etc., send me a pm.

Thanks for that, pics look brill. project on hold for a couple of weeks as my brother blew up his 2.4 diesel so we are changing his engine at the moment and don't get a lot of time. My main concern is coupling the engine to the box and what conversions i'am gonna have to do. Maybe you can send your mechanic overwww.cnpbetterhomes.co.uk

Thanks.
You just missed the window of uportunity, was in the UK a few weeks back, could have made you one on the spot if you have a TIG. Cause I still have the jig I used for welding the two bellhousing halves together.
I used the front half of the 2JZ (manual) housing and the back half of a R gearbox. Cut, align, weld, mill (cause it will warp) and your done.
Clutch is from a 7M-GE, clutch slave cilinder 4R or 7M.
And don't forget to check the total height before welding (mblmbl ):

No, that means mine is converted from auto to manual.
It is possible to use an A340H (if I recall correctly) with the supra bellhouse, or change the back part of the stock supra box.
That is if you can get the electronics to work.
The 2JZ-GE has (part of) the gearbox CU incorporated into the engine ECU. So the software that's in there is also setup for a high power high rev engine.
So you cannot use an older auto with seperate CU.
I have no clue what happens if you use a 4R A340H on that ECU.
i.e.: the 2JZ-GE was equiped with: A340-E (Crown), A340-E-i (also Crown), A650-E (Lexus) etc. Haven't even looked at the supra's yet.
Worst case scenario is that it shifts too soon, too late or not at all

Maybe strange question, but why not to use Supra autobox and Supra electronics/ECU? These days you can buy NA engine for like 150 pounds and another 150 for low milage autobox. Anyway Hilux with NA-T engine looks bonkers, although I still prefer smooth shapes of my Supra
