I have a 3lt v6 converted to gas it runs perfectly on gas i am in bristol the only time my would not run on gas i found the stepper motor was faultly
which side of the air flow meter dose the gas go into before or after the airflow meter neilaj@hotmail.com
Its not that sort of set up, its a squential gas injection, with individual injectors for each cylinder.
But the airflow meter has been broken into in the past and sealed up again, and seeing as it did a big gas burp for him I'm gonna be checking that as well.

Its not going! Got your message, could reply as was knee deep in horse poo!
I think some has died in the emission system set up, it'll start and run then die no matter how often you start it, one after the other or leaving it and them starting it.
It'll start-rev-die or start-idle-die, just won't stay running. Interestingly if you flick the key just as starts to die, it'll pickup again then die, if I keep doing this to will run (obviously not good for the starter and ring gear)
This says to me that what ever lets it get fuel/ignition power while cranking is stopping the minute the key goes back to ign. position.
There are no faults on the ECU, I havn't found yet what is turning it off (ie fuel or electrical) then I'm gonna go through the emssions $$$$, charcol canister, VSV's, EGR, cat. etc.
Did you alter the plugs gaps in the end, or leave them as they where?
Whatever happened to a nice simple carb?
You won't be picking it up tomorrow is the only certainty ATM!

well when on gas it sounds like its running on about 4/5 cylinders.
When the guy set the ecu up he thought that after sorting the plugs out it should then run fine on gas however I changed the plugs to iridium ones then set the gap to 0.8mm and it still was not right however thats when my fuel pump problem started so we dont know yet what the real problem is with the gas.
The guy who programmed the ecu wanted all tony's electrics, etc double checking before I take it back up to him to re programme. Which is fair enough, mainly as he is based near norwich and will charge me to reprogramme it again, even though once he gets mine right it will make his next surf ecu programming job really really easy.
Vacuum leak at the throttle body?
just trying to be helpfull.
As ever!
Could easily be, the intake came off several times during installation, and the LPG exploding in the intake could have been the final straw for a gasket or seal in there somewhere.
I've got to take the top half of the manifold off again to check all the injector wire splices, so it'll get looked at.
Chris has been on the phone and apparently the RAC guy said the fuel pump relay was suspect when they checked it.
So lots of thing to check!!!

its just very annoying, i need petrol to warm the engine up so that we can check if the gas works. Hopefully its the fuel pump relay but will wait and see
If the gas switch cuts the petrol supply maybe the system does this by cutting power to the fuel pump relay (which is how I would do it) so this may have a fault stopping the fuel pump relay working. Seems to much of a co -incedent that the 2 are not related .
As Vince says maybe the intake trunking has blown off when the engine backfired , had that on a breakdown before .

I think most of the cars on that forum seem to be using the old style system where the lpg and air are mixed before the engine. Mine has direct injection which is a fair bit more complicated but i dont know if getting the air supply right is such an important issue.
I do have a K&n filter kit on mine which I could remove and put the original system back on but that would be boring and no fun!!!!
