Hmmm, I've suddenly gone off the idea of sharing Biohazards popcorn.

Maybe I'll have a hotdog instead...

The absence of an explanation or offer to make-good is what's adding to his frustration. It does seem very out of character from Vince from what I've seen in the 8-odd years I've been here, I can understand putting family first totally, but he seems to have taken his ball in now. Just surprised he's not posted to defend himself or explain the outstanding issues. Not that anyone other than UGTR is owed this.

The LL/Budweiser banter is hardly enough to make me want to quit the forum.

Hope the matter is resolved shortly.
Yes I would like an explanation of what happened and why it happened that I didn't finish up with a quality/fully completed job.
By not saying anything it's like he's convinced he's done a decent job on my truck! And not admitting fault with the paintwork by only agreeing to pay for the exhaust.
I to would like to resolve this matter and not go down the legal route if possible and for Vince to recompense for the 2parts that I can't do-the exhaust and paintwork.

                        How the mighty fall...

Funny how the internet allows for these artificial 'personas' to be created and then it masters their downfall too. BW, the keyboard 'swashbuckler'...from the safety of his PC he had 'carte blanche' to flame newbies for not knowing the 'forum etiquette' , insulting people who couldn't spell, calling everyone on here 'troglodytes'...the 'perfectionist' who never took shortcuts...and now to hear all this...quite sad really.

In front of our Mac we all look like Brad Pitt and have the brains of Prof Hawkins...only that we don't.

On a couple of occasions in the past I had the audacity to object to some of his bullying on here but I was quickly castigated. Not by the man himself, funny enough, but by some of his minions, the crowd of happy 'clappy' cheerleaders that used to follow all his posts, hoping for at least a nodding look of appreciation from the master.

Still BW was on a good day very helpful, I myself benefited (and still do, well, before he deletes them all that is!) from many of his excellent technical threads.

Hopefully this thread will change the forum a little bit. Would be good to see the gratuitous p*** taking and private jokes replaced by helpful replies. Even if you can't spell. And for the forum to become a more chilled and lighthearted place.

Attitudes are already changing: see how Slobodan quickly changed his tune after his first post on this thread, following Yoshie's comment.
All it takes is a few influential people to keep things calm and relaxed, while still providing the technical knowledge. 'A la TonyN', sort of thing.

                        Have a great weekend everyone.

                            Lexurf iii

Ok I was stopped the other day in my conversion just about to take my dog for a walk and a guy pulls over and started chatting to me , seemed like a alright bloke and tuned out he is on this forum, can't remember his user name though, prob due to way too much Mezcal the night before so he asks "what engine you got in that" ? "an LS 400 mate, why", "is that a LEXURF" he says , "yes mate number III" , he then went on to tell me about some fued or i guess you can't realy call it that , lets say a dispute over one of Vince's conversions , and after reading the posts on a lot of this site i guess it's to do with XII or Xi , can't be sure or perhaps it's both ,,,
I have no idea as to exactly what has gone on between the customers and Vince, and didn't know Vince had any family or personal problems as i hav't been on this site for a while ,
So why am i posting ? I'm posting to answer the original question at the start of this thread, Am I happy with my conversion ? in answer to that
a couple of days after picking III up from Vince i drove it up to Scotty Botland , Strontian to be exact from MK ,with my fishing boat on the back , at about 80 to 90 mph all the way and still got 20 mpg from it, infact i was going so fast another family member my Mum (RIP last year) who was following me in her renault was waving me to slow down , i have driven the thing all over the Uk with next to zero maintenance, one oil change (nauty i know) it's now got over 220,000 kill's on th clock, i did have a water pump bearing failure on the M4 managed to get off and a good mate who once worked for Williams F1 in mansell rea changed it on his drive in 1 hour flat with no info (yea he's a top top mechanic), with the exeption of that and i can't blame vince for that as it wasan engine problem that no one could have foreseen, and 4 MOT's later the orange beast as my family call it is still spinning up the rear, setting off the neighbours car alarms anfd generaly being a thug if a car could be a thug.

So am i happy with my conversion that i paid Vince 1 grand for , f..kin right i am , my motor is now 25 years old and probably good for another 25, the only time it's going to die is if i decide to take the engine/box out and stick it in my Mk2 Ford Transit, so Vince you did a dam good job on my truck mate I am well happy with it, and can only judge on what i have experienced.

this was taken way back , my lad is a TIG welder now , thats him in the driving seat at about 13 or 14, i did finaly spray the dr front wing orange but it does not match the stupid metalic mist job that was on it when i got it with the 2.4 D in it,.
I look at the vehicle a a piece of metal not as some treasure, oh it's a great engine thats for sure and as i said in my opp Vince did a great job on it , well 4 or 5 years on and it's still fun to drive though it is very loud, it was even louder when i got it from Vince so i welded some down turns on the ends of the mufflers that are Spintech from the USA (got them at cost), it's only got 1 on each bank i told Vince to do it like that as i wanted it to sound like 70's Chevelle SS. Would i buy another Surf, not unless it had a LS engine in it, without the LS it was about the most booring car i have ever owned, my V6 Mk2 transit could smoke it from the lights with ease,,and if i was a 4x4 nut i would have got a landy. i wanted it to tow my boat and it does and it does it at speed.
Anyway mate where is Vince ? once was the time he was on this forum 24/7, i remember going to see him as the build was going on and we sat there in his garden with his kid and dog and wife and my lad and my Mum drinking tea and enjoying a great view he had from his gaff, i found him very reliable and friendly, an oldfashioned sort that you don't get too much nowadays...have you met him.?
