More than a certain few on the FB page..;-)..some that are on the missing list..;-)..there has been issues on this forum with people getting upset. The thing is thats mainly in the General section and not the Tech sections, which is the way it should be.
The thing is, if someone has a problem and there is no answer from the other person it is bound to all blow up and be aired on a open forum. It's the new, online, nature of the world we live in. Sad, but true.

I have got my annoyance of my chest...wish i didn't have to though.

Since i've been back on here all there has been is bitching and its nothing like this place used to be like.People use to help and understand when people had problems.
Roll on when the old time members start coming back regular so we can start having a decent ###### forum again

With you Rich. I stopped participating on this site due to rude and ignorant posts and replies. I used to try and help diagnosis faults but was ignored or shot down in flames. I now pop in and out just to see who is slagging who off.
I sold my main vehicle, a 3rd gen but still got my 1st gen in storage awaiting re instatement.
I do post the odd reply, like this but no as before.

and Im just saying thats a rose tinted specs view. The only bitching in this thread was a wee bit between Lord Lucan and budweiser, theres been much much worse in years gone by and I seem to remember a time when bitching at LL was OK. You joined in DEC 2004 as did I. The forum has been up and down over the years, active spells, quietish spells, but overall theres no more bitching or nastiness now ( in my view at least ) than there was 2--3-4-5-6- 10 years back. There may even be less ? Problem is though its more noticeable when its quiet. The days of the instant and usually quality response to a query are gone. I blame Tony N. Its lost its mojo since he was abducted by aliens. His knowledge, and also his abilty to control members excesses and provide the voice of reason really are missed.

Ask yourself why the likes of TonyN are not here anymore....I wouldn't want to moderate a load of keyboard warriors with the little spare time i had after full days work...it's the school bully syndrome of a little gang running things...If the rest of the school ganged up on them they would run away.

I hope this forum gets back on track, and to say that this happens in all forums is simply not true...I was a mod on a very large motor forum for 6 years and people would join up simply because it was a laugh and that laugh was friendly and very helpful no matter how many times someone asked the same question.

If someone offered a service and failed to deliver the mods dealt with it. Lets not kid ourselves we have all seen messages asking someone to get in touch or sort something out on a semi-regular basis..again and again bumped. Maybe new mods on here looking after different sections and sharing the load would work??

This is the premier web based forum for our Surfs in the UK...Full of valuable info and people with the knowledge to help....Lets put our sensible heads on guys.

Hello. I owned lexurf2 for a while. Vince helped me out on several occasions, for which I am thankful. As did TonyN.

Lexurf convertees

I know you guys are referring to other disagreements with the bitching comments, but I didn't post the new threads ( Lexurf X update 1 to 5 and Lexurf convertees ) to bitch about someone. I posted them to be factual with picture evidence etc ( ok some of you may think that's abit harsh ) but I wanted to bring it to peoples attention.

Getting back on the original topic.
If the relevant people who commented about Vince's time, family problems, etc etc, have read my threads thoroughly, you will have seen the facts that:- At no point was I made aware of family issues/problems - as far as I knew He was cracking on with the conversion. As I said before - had I known this I would have said take your time - it's finished when it's finished. He told me it was finished and ready for collection - it certainly wasn't - I was lucky the oil and water fittings held until I got home.
This build took 10 months - about the same time as the other higher standard builds took - so if there were circumstances limiting time spent on my truck - take longer to finish it to the same standard as the others.
As I started to find problems I contacted Vince about them - no response for a while and only after about a week and 3 emails/pm's get a response.
I eventually presented Vince with a list of issues I wasn't happy with - basically what's in the pictures I put links to. No response for three days - resent it, again no response, sent another email/pm and again after about 3 lots of messages I get the response, " I don't know what to say. "
There was no " I'm sorry" or " let me put the issues right. "
Now the " he's very busy" thing doesn't wash with me because whenever I logged on about 9am, 1.30-2.30pm and in the evening he was logged on to.
He offered to pay to have the exhaust sorted , but not the paintwork - why I don't know as it was clearly in a better state before it went to him. ( he was paid for the conversion in full )
The reason I joined this forum was because I had bought a surf obviously and I find it a mindfield of info, knowledge and help. After seeing the other build threads and quality of work I convinced myself I had to have the conversion done.
Thoroughly enjoyed driving it home, then the more I looked around it, the more issues I found with it - The shine was knocked off completely, leaving me very disappointed and annoyed that Vince wasn't more upfront and honest about things. I feel extremely let down by excuses that were made that were basically just a fob off. ( " I forgot about that bit because I was concentrating on another bit and I didn't do this because of this " what rubbish!
The people that said you should give him a chance - I did.
I ask the regular contributors on here - would you have been happy with the build of this truck?

I am not much of a regular and I am not interested in conversions, hence I have only just seen your threads now.
I don't think anybody would be happy with what you got. Your complaints seem legitimate to me and they at least deserve an explanation.

If it was a garage we were talking about, or a company, or a dealer, people on here would be up in arms, starting facebook campaigns, Algy Auto-style.

Since it is a 'powerful' forum member we are talking about, you get little sympathy.

Good that you stood up and made your point.

I hope you guys find an amicable solution you are both happy with.

I don't think it's bitching when you haven't got what you paid for, which based on the standard of previous conversions, appears to be fact. I think UGTR is being reasonable.

The absence of an explanation or offer to make-good is what's adding to his frustration. It does seem very out of character from Vince from what I've seen in the 8-odd years I've been here, I can understand putting family first totally, but he seems to have taken his ball in now. Just surprised he's not posted to defend himself or explain the outstanding issues. Not that anyone other than UGTR is owed this.

The LL/Budweiser banter is hardly enough to make me want to quit the forum.

Hope the matter is resolved shortly.
