Is splitting the gearbox from the v8 a dry procedure? I have to do it on my mates floor, so just trying to get an idea. I've only heard about rover v8s and they are messy jobs.

Spent an hour on my plenum, most of it on cleaning the inside.
That carbon stuff is stubborn. So far used muc off, carb cleaner, fairy liquid and a steam cleaner.
Gave it a rub down ready for paint too.
As for the throttle body, I can't decide whether to polish or paint it silver same as the block. Got some nooks and crannies that could prove a pain to polish.

My head hurts, and eyes, been raking through build threads for info.
Was at the engine today, not doing anything, just looking. The guy thats making the mounts started quizzing me about gearbox mounts. I haven't really looked into it to be honest but I thought the Surf gearbox mounts weren't far away. Somehow he has confused me and I'm needing some clarification and evidence so I can go and show the &*%^ what he is going to be doing.
Really if I was more confident in my welding I'd do the whole ###### job myself. I hate working with people; hence why I milk cows for a living.
Vince or anyone else got any pictures of how yours are mounted.Paul

To be honest buddy it's something that needs to be done once the engine is in and where you want it. If you make the mounts first and it's not right u gotta start again.
There's a few photos of my mounts in my thread which I made up once the engine was where I wanted it, my gbox mounts nearly lined up but had to be made slight larger to lift the gbox up.
Prop the engine gbox and t case where u want with blocks of wood and axle stands then tac the mounts in position.ALL THE GEAR!............no idea!
