  • Wish me luck

Well as you may have seen my kzn130 has given up. After several days of deliberation I have decided to go for the 1uzfe.

Ordered the first item tonight, a 2 inch body lift. Just need to find a local workshop for rent to do it in.

Will keep eyes out for a Lexus Over the next month or so. Aim is to have it running on the road 30 days after I get the car.

I was thinking they might be a go'er as a temporary workshop....

We bought 2 marquees at our local carboot sale for £ 25 each.

Could be used as a workshop. Need to be very firmly anchored.

          Happy bidding

Went to pick up the lexus. Damn roadworks on m6!!

Left at 5, should have been a 3.5 hour journey at that time. But noo. Roadworks made it a 5.5 hour journey. Stopped for 5 minutes at the nice mans house who sold me it then a brisk 2.5 hour journey home. My mate, the Lexus driver said engine is great. Brakes are shocking. Brake hard and the back end steps out so I'm presuming axle bushes are away. Shame.

Got to love a V8 though, sounds like it was a fun drive home

What are the pro's and cons between using the A343F or the A341E when fitting a 1UZFE?

                        Use the Lexus 4 speed.

You'll need to tap drill and a hole (some don't bother, I would I think Vince does too.) and either grind off the end of the output shaft (quick) or swap over the output shafts between the gearboxes (OCD).

My Lexus came with the 5 speed, which complicated things, so I used the factory Hilux box. That also works fine - you need to swap the input shafts though, and do something with the dipstick as (on a 3rd gen at least) it is in the wrong place.
                        More Lift.
                        More Tyres.
                        More Engine.

All systems are go on this project now. As there are so many other patented codename's for these, this will be the 8runner.

Got the engine sitting ready to lift out the hilux one day this week. The guy that's making the mounts is going to try and not do the bodylift. Will see how we go. It doesn't fuss me either way. I have the kit sitting ready. Keeping the centre of gravity low turns me on a little though.

Lifting the engine out of the surf tomorrow night. I am just wondering if I can lift the engine and box out together, without cutting the slam panel? It's being done outside by a forklift so height isn't an issue, just trying to prepare myself for unexpected problems.

No reply again, don't know why I bother. Sent PM's to a few people who know a lot about these conversions and had no reply. Something in the way I write or my profile must scream out knob.

                              Cheers lads.
