  • Going for it...A lot of advice will be required.

I've decided to give the conversion a go, a challenge for myself.

As seen from the other posts, the head on my 2.4 is goosed.

So how much do I need to remove from the engine bay. From what I can see the brake servo is left, nearside battery, steering res and fuse boxes.

Am I better to lift the engine and box in one go, or lift engine and drop the box.

Retain transfer box for later use.

How much body / suspension lift is the required minimum? this info for a later date obviously.

Just need to get engine bay clear, cleaned and ready.

Sell off any unused bits and scrap the rest.

    Thanks

I would like to know too.
What we all need is a build thread or nine that we could all reference when undertaking such a conversion.

Dear Bushwhacker, give your V8 SURF a 4ins suspension lift, a 10ins body lift, remount body 2ins backwards on chassis for front tyre clearance bigger than 35x14.5ins, let me know what i need to do for my V8 conversion in relation to these mods. You should be ready in about 14 days to answer questions.

This does make me a bit sad... I had a Soarer back in '99 when people didn't really know what they were and they were a bit "special" (and ###### fast!)

              Still a cracking car today!

Then again I did the same to an LS400 and I'm sure that makes someone else feel sad!!

Good luck. It will be great to see it. I hope you give the engine a nice paint before it goes in.

                            Hi

Close to lifting the old block out of the truck now. Would anybody local to huddersfield have a hoist / crane available to borrow for a small fee for a little while.
Saves me hiring one in whilst I get the old block out and away to scrappys.

Needs to be foldable and slide into back of car.

Taking most bits off that are saleable should anyone here need anything.

                            Thanks
