the guys in the lexus dealers sold me 2 ngk ones for £80 - still working now. Not so sure on that one Gary, as when I took it to Vince's his OBD reader showed them up as faulty unless memory needs clearing down

also had a carbon brush disintegrate on one of rock autos delco dizzy caps after 400mls - changed them for bosch ones which are still working now.

    maybe i'm just unlucky
Just waiting to get myself sorted and then I can take a proper look at things, although it would be handy to have the reader at home instead of in Wales. Getting a strong unburned petrol smell which is why Vince put his reader on the motor.

P.S. took myself to a private hospital and things are now moving on, but ###### expensive. Bupa won't cover previously existing problems

excellent news on the back situation

try clearing the ecu - they are probably old codes in the memory - the od light flashes like a normal surf if theres a fault. it was ok in the last 5-600 mls i did.

dunno about the fuel smell - never had that before

          It's alive!

Running rough as a roughed up rough thing, but it is running.

It's making a strange noise too, video to follow.

It sounds like the cam or distributor, any other ideas?

              It's not the cams.
Does it rev OK? Is there a strong smell of petrol from the exhaust?

              Plug leads fitted correctly?

The only thing I can think of that would make that noise is the fan belt idler pulley, the small one at the very top. The bearing dries out and it makes a noise very similar to that. I replace them as a matter of course on all the conversions now, the bearing can be knocked out of the pulley using a suitably sized socket.
I get the bearings from a local engineering parts supplier, they're around £6 each, much cheaper than £30 odd for a replacement pulley.

It doesn't rev well at all, it's only firing on a few cylinders though. Now that I have it started, I'll change all the ignition things and the injectors, I'll swap that bearing too.

Once all the bits are swapped over; I'll do the codes and see how things pan out.

                  Bearing part number: C6031

Could be rain water in the spark plug tubes if it's been standing for a long time.

Thanks Vince, I'll order a bearing tomorrow.

The plug holes are wet, I'll seal them better when I replace the plugs and leads.

                        It's dead again!

It ran the other day (Wednesday), rough as a rough thing, but it ran.

Today it's dead, turns over, but won't fire. Ah well...

Cold start injector...black wire snipped on the back of the ecu...perhaps try connecting that.
                          Non intercooled nothing.

I re-joined that, I think. Is it the wire with STA on it?

I don't think it's fuel, I think it's electrical, I'll swap all the bits I have to swap (so I know it's all good) then try again.

Two bare ended black wires. If you have connected them, try starting without Andy.

That post I just posted is crap.

If you have rejoined the black cold start injector wires, disconnect them and try that.
