What did you use on the wee needles?

Done the dash clocks and managed to illuminate all the needles too!

What did you use on the wee needles?

Individual red 5mm LEDs, set into holes drilled in the back of the housing and aimed at the back of the small needles. They will get slightly brighter as they get to the halfway mark on the gauge.
I painted the needles with red flourescent model paint too.

I tried using LED strips like those but they gave out too much light. I even cut them down to just four LEDs but they were still too much.

I fitted the single LEDs from the back and just poked then through the drilled holes slightly and secured them with hot melt glue.

Collected the new bellhousing yesterday too after handing over the £18 import duty!

The picture shows long strips, but there are wee 5cm strips with only 3 LEDs. I'll play around with what I've got though, what's the worst that can happen!

Flexplate removed and shiny new flywheel and spigot bearing fitted....





New heavy duty Exedy clutch fitted......




Refurbished Surf clutch fork and clutch release bearing fitted together with new, V8 to Surf manual gearbox bellhousing........



Gearbox and transfercase all bolted to the back of the engine.....





All ready to chuck in the 'hole'......
